When I turn on my HP Pavilion 1x1000 It stays on ,but there is no image on the screen, and stays on please help.

A) Post THE Product Number on the bottom of the laptop. It's in the white Service Tag. P/N = Product Number.

B) On the left/bottom side of the LCD screen frame (Display Bezel), there is a switch. Looks like a small button.

This is the Internal Display Switch. (May not be in this exact position for your model. Look around on the Display Bezel, that surrounds the LCD screen)

When the laptop is closed, the switch turns off the display, (Image on screen), with the computer still on.
Tap it a couple of times lightly, with the eraser on the end of a number 2 pencil.

See if anything happens. That switch may be bad.

C) Laptop off, monitor off, connect a VGA monitor to the VGA port on the laptop.

Example of a VGA cable, and VGA connector, (Port),

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

You can use a CRT monitor, (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor if it has a VGA cable.

C) Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type of monitor allow it to warm up.
Turn the laptop on.

By factory default settings, the display should show on the external VGA monitor.

IF not;
There are at least 3 display options,

1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor AND external VGA monitor
3) External VGA monitor ONLY

Press, and hold down on the Fn key. At the same time tap once on the Display Toggle-Over key.

Don't know what exact HP laptop you have. For most HP's it is the F2 key, or the F4 key, that is the Display Toggle-Over key.
(Key has an empty rectangle on it, with a vertical line on each side)

Still no display on the external VGA monitor?
Hold the Fn key down again. (Bottom left of Keyboard)
Tap once more on the Display Toggle-Over key

NO display on the external VGA monitor, means you have a bad graphics chipset.

(By using an external VGA monitor, you are bypassing the Internal Display Switch, and the Display Assembly. (Internal monitor of laptop)

If you have a display on the external VGA monitor, you have a problem with;

1) Video Cable, (Display Panel Cable for HP)
or
2) Display Assembly

Post back with your results, and if you have a display on the external VGA monitor, we will go on.

If you do not have a display on the external VGA monitor, you are looking at motherboard replacement.

Need a hp part number for a lcd display for a HP Pavilion dm4t-1200 laptop.

I would like you to try using HP's Part Surfer.

1) Put your Product Number, or Serial Number in the Quick Search box,
(P/N = Product Number.
S/N = Serial Number.

{DO NOT give out the serial number on a public forum such as this. Only on the HP website}

2) Then click the blue down arrow on the right side of the - Select a country or region - box, and click on your country.

3) Finally go back to the Quick Search box, and click on the side arrow to the right.

Post back in a Comment as to your findings.
We'll go from there.

On the back of the LCD screen is the HP part number.

http://www.screentekinc.com/HP_Pavilion_DM4T--14-inch--1366x768-wxga_hd-laptop-lcd-screen.shtml

{Scroll the page down, and see if any of the 36 part numbers may be a match}

Display LCD screen replacement instructions,

Awaiting additional questions. Please post in a Comment.

[ P.S.
You can disconnect the LCD display, and use an external VGA monitor, while you wait for the replacement LCD screen.

1) Laptop off, VGA monitor off.
2) Connect the VGA monitor to the Left side of the laptop.
( External monitor port. The VGA connector resembles this one,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SVGA_port.jpg

3) Turn the VGA monitor on. Wait for it to 'warm up'.
Turn the laptop on.

If the display does not automatically go to the external monitor;
Press, and hold down on the Fn key.
Tap the F4 key.

(The VGA monitor can be a CRT monitor, {Looks like a small TV}, or a flat LCD screen monitor that has a VGA connector, and a VGA cable ]

My screen turns blue when I open up the internet and i have red dots all over my screen and a few red lines that move. I don't know a lot about computers and laptops. I have a laptop which is an hp.

Hello, with HP- most of the laptops have a HP settings feature in the set up of the laptop. Look under control panel, or computer settings for the HP Monitor Settings. In the monitor settings, there should be an executable button for resolving monitor problems through the computer. If there is, execute this, it may require you to reload your operating system so make sure you have your initial start up CD roms or DVDs that you got with the system in order to reload the OS if it is required. If you try this and it does not work, then I am sad to respond with the fact that your monitor is fried. Having said that, if it is under warranty, then by all means call HP and get the ball rolling. If it is not, look into the replacement screen for your laptop. Be careful, screens can range from 200-400 dollars and like today, you can go to best buy and purchase a brand new one for 429.00 that is probably and comparably the same as you have today. So, be penny wise about your decision. One other option you have, is if you have the connector to your computer to your television, you can always use your laptop like a desktop and view your screen on a tv monitor versus your laptop monitor if this helps with finances, frustration, or things that need to get done already any at all... i hope this solution provides you but yet three possible quick fixes for you and your computer issue. Have a good day. Talk to you later. Troy

You can connect any HDMI or VGA (15 pin) compatible monitor or TV, almost every monitor has VGA connector or VGA adapter at the end of connector and you can use it.

My HP Pavillion laptop turns on but the screen doesn't show.

You could be expierencing a problem with your monitor screen. try this.... connect another monitor screen to the VGA port of your laptop. Now try booting up. Look for and push Fn + the key that turns on a secondary display. if the monitor screen comes on. you need
another laptop monitor. At least you can use your laptop with the second monitor for now.

My HP pavilion dv6000 laptop monitor will not work. Any suggestions? Jenny

If there is no display at all and the system seems to be booting up properly. Look for the switch video output button, it should look like a monitor or just a square w/ round corners. Press the function key and that key to switch between displays. If that doesn't bring it up try attaching an external monitor and then trying that key combo.

External monitor looks like the computer is in the safe mode

If XP:
Start->Control Panel->Display->Settings tab->Screen resolution->move marker to "more".

If Vista:
Start->Personalize->Display Settings->Resolution->move marker to "high".

I want to use an external monitor

You have to tell the laptop to use that port. It is usually the Function Key and one of the FKeys. Look for a blue (the usual color for functions) monitor symbol.

Press it 1 time = signal to only the ext port
2 times = both the laptop screen and the ext port
3 times = back to the laptop screen only
