Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a Ge Frig. Profile Model 28. The flashing diagnostic code dE continusly flashs. I unplug the frig. and replug it, the flashing stops. System check/reset indicates eveery thing is OK. The unplug and reconnect fix last for at least 24 hours and recently two days. If it would just keep flashing and not respond to the unplug fix; I would call GE repair and get it fixed. What is the problem?

I don't have manual here for that exact model, but the DE error comes up when the refrigerator has not detected a defrost current within a certain amount of time. This is most often the result of a burnt out defrost heater. The refrig will likely keep working for a week or so until the frost builds up and blocks the air flow over the evaporator (the cooling coils behind the back wall of the freezer). The defrost heater is located at the bottom of said evaporator. Although new refrig's are more energy efficient now, this one should be able to live on. If you don't want to attempt repair yourself, call a local tech. (not the utility company or the national guys ie: A & E.... too many hororr stories about them) You can try your zip code in and look for a servicing dealer. (NOT the big boxes. look for the smaller dealers, Thats were you'll get the best and fastest service.

GE Artica, pulsing lights

Your refrig display , has lost communication , with the main control board , located , behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " panel . The control board , is easily replaceable , with 7 or 8 plugs , attached to it . The part number , for your board , is WR55X10942 . It runs about $150.00 .

Our GE profile freezer/frig - frig side has ice on coils

Sounds like the automatic defrost system is not working. The usual problem is the defrost heater, the defrost thermostat, or the defrost timer. If any of these parts are bad, it will not defrost.
