Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

1 Answer

First, i must say a very big thank you to you guys for this wonderful job you are doing. My wireless is back after i rolled back to Windows Xp.I am in a school community using a wireless network which i paid for. Other laptops can connect to the wireless network but i and some other users of Dell laptops can not connect to this network. We have even consulted the engineer in charge yet he couldn't do any thing. I am using Dell Latitude D600 with Orionoco Wireless Lan (3.3 volt). Please what can i do to receive this wireless signal. Thank you and God bless you.

OK Please check the network connection: here are the step:
    1. Right click your "My Computer" and then properties
    2. There are 7 Tabs Choose "Hardware tab"
    4. Click Device Manager now you should be on the device manager tab.
    5. locate your "Network adapter, there you should see your wireless network. disable it and re enable your wireless adapter.. windows will re enable your wireless adapter because it is a plug and play device.... after windows enable it. turn on your wifi and press fn and f2 at the same time. now i should work now.. NOTE: make sure your network adapter is not a yellow mark in the device manager..

    Regards
    JR

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

You may be able to roll back the driver to the previous one. Depending on which operating system you are using, right click on my computer and click properties. If xp then click on hardware tab and click on device mamager. If vista or 7 click on device manager on the left side of window that pops up. Then click on the "+" next to sound then double click on your device. Click on the driver tab and click on "roll back driver". Follow instructions from there. If you cannot click on that button it means you cannot roll back and may need to do a search or the driver and install it manually.
Hope this helps!

Go to www.dell.com and look for the DRIVER DOWNLOAD (or similar name) and put in your service tag number (on the bottom of the computer). Once you do that, you should be able to find your Network Interface Card (NIC) and download it. Of course, you will need to do this on another computer and transfer the download to either a flash drive or CD writable disk. Once that is done, you can load it onto your laptop. There may be several NIC's to choose from but use the recommended one for your service tag number.
One drawback may be that NIC will not be supported on VISTA. If you have done all this, you may have to roll back to Windows XP. One problem with Dell Computers is that they don't take kindly to VISTA unless the computer was designed exclusively for VISTA. I have an E1705 that I tried to upgrade to VISTA and it was a disaster! I had to roll back to XP.

Can you upgrade a vgn sz480 to windows 7 professional

Your laptop would be a wonderful candidate for Windows 7. Sony is doing a great job with driver updates and most things should work 100% right out of the box. If you have Vista, you can choose the upgrade version. If you have XP, you will need to do a clean install, Windows 7 will save your personal files and old windows installation on the "C" drive and will list it as windows.old, I would suggest though that you back up every file you want on an external drive before you start.

Click on the Downloads tab and then choose windows xp as your operating system and you can download any of the drivers that you need from that point.

Sound card

That was a dodgy job,
the licence for windows XP installed by this guy is not genuine and can get you in troubles with Windows updates.
If you have a valid Windows XP licence (check the sticker at the base of your laptop), you should reinstall XP home using the licence number on the sticker.
If you do not have a licence, well I cannot talk here...

Regarding the sound, that is not a big problem, you just need to download and reinstall the drivers for your laptop.

Post a new question on Fixya, giving details on your laptop make and model, you will get the link to download for drivers.

I will be offline for the following few hours.

Don't forget to rate the solution appropriately.

Thanks

SOUND CARD NOT FOUND BY WINDOWS

Go to the ThinkPad Website

Put in the information for your computer and search for an audio driver. It will be a free download. Follow all of the instructions that come with the driver.

I would provide a direct link to the driver, but you did not list the specific Type of Thinkpad R60 that you own. There are many types. Also it may matter if you have XP SP1 or SP2.
