Belt broken, or off the motor shaft pulley. Or the motor might not be turning. Or the shaft may not be turning the pulley. Lay the thing on its side (on a towel so it doesn't scratch the side) and see if the motor is turning and if the belt is on the pulley. That should tell you what you need to do.

Aha Broken belt. You would need to get inside the machine to investigate the problema. If you were drying some big old tennis shoes that would knock the belt off. I have a pictorial on this with a manual and a nice video prepared by Repair Clinic HERE

I would check the heating element for a short to frame. I bet that is it. Broken heating element touches the heater chamber and the L-2 feed the element but not the full amount of power so it ain't enough to throw the breaker. Seen it.

Roper RED4440VQ1 how do you know if high limit thermostat is broken?

you have to unplug the dryer, and remove at least one of the wires and read it out with a meter to check it for continuity.you can go here and see the parts you need to check,http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Roper-Parts/Dryer-Parts/Model-RED4440VQ1/0893/0151200/W0905172/00003?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=RED4440VQ1
check the element, part number 17 on the diagram and is part 279838,if that's good check the thermostats on the heater box, part 9 and 15 on diagram,if one of them is bad buy part number 279816,it replaces both of them, also check the thermal fuse number 7 on the diagram and it's part 3392519.your lint filter is on top so all your parts are in the back, pull out the dryer, unplug it,remove the vent line and then the back panel, also take out the lint filter and the two phillips screws that are on the top panel and in front of the lint filter, when you're in the back, remove the 4 screws and clean out the metal duct that the filter slides into,if the vent line is a long run you can blow it out with a leaf blower, make sure nothing is blocking the air flow outside,if there's a cage or screen remove it so the lint doesn't build up and block the air flow.hope this helps and good luck.

Dryer will not start. About 4-5 years old. Electric motor sounded a little weak when running the past few months. Heating seemed fine and heat vent is clean. What is cost of new electric motor?

Hello,

the part # for the motor is 31001589 i have found the price range of it from$100.00 to $140.00
you could copy and paste the part number and perform a google search under the "shopping" tab to find the motor

Frigidaire Model# FEQ1442ES0. No Heat. I had checked everything... Could it be something wrong with the Control Board (printed circuit with housing)?

Our laundry room is in the center of the house and the dryer vent runs underneath the house and every 6 months or so we have to run a plumbing snake all the way through the vent pipe. Once it all the way through the house we then tie a rope to the end of it with a huge knot tied into it, we then snake the rope through the pipe and it pulls out all the lint that has collected inside, someone at each end of the rope (make sure it's long enough) and run it back and forth until no more lint is collected. I hope this might help you

My LG DLEX2910V dryer runs on and the drum spins but it doesn't heat up. It's only 3 months old and I have checked the vent and the power connections.

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Hi, I have a Kenmore Elite electric dryer model#

If your fuse is blown could be that your operating thermastat is not shuting off as soon as it should. Try replacing the fuse and the operating thermastat. The fuse would probaly blow before the hi limit.

I have a 5 year old Sears Kenmore dryer that won't offer heat

This is an electric heated device?

Do you use fabric softener sheets in your machine? If yes, have you tried cleaning the sensor? Look on the back wall for a sensor. Check with Sears for specific instructions.

Whirlpool Dryer wont spin

If it heats but doesnt spin, most likely the belt. May not be broke though. May have fallen off. Let me know if you need more help.

How old is the dryer? The heating element is probably no good.
It's possible to fix it yourself. Make sure it's unplugged before you start. You might want to check a parts store, or online to see what the heating element would cost. when this goes bad, the dryer will still spin, and the heat stops instantly. It's a little tricky taking the panels off, but there's not too much to a dryer. An electric motor that powers a belt to make it spin, the heating element, metal sides, top and bottom. Good Luck! Dryer won't spin

This may be a simple broken belt problem. The dryer utilizes a belt that wraps around the drum and is driven by a motor. If the belt breaks, the dryer heating circuits will still finction normally, but the drum will not rotate. It would be helpful if you could provide me with a model number (located somewhere around the door opening, or along the back of the operator console). If it IS a belt problem, this is a fairly inexpensive fix. If the motor, however, has gone bad, it may be considerably more. Please post back with your comments. I hope this helps you.
