Post the model number of the thermostat and we can help you. The numbers may be behind any door on the thermostat or you may be able to remove the face plate and numbers should be molded into the plastic. Also include the model numer of the Carrier HVAC unit.

Carrier OEM to Honeywell Programmable Tstat - NEED HELP

you likely have a "two stage" system, but not a two stage heat pump. the first stage is probably the heat pump itself, and the second stage is the auxilliary resistance heat that suppliments the heat pump at lower temps. if i knew the terminals that are available on the new stat, i could advise you on the proper wiring.

My heating and air digatal thermostat is stuck at 76 degress it shows a symbol of a lock and will not allow me to over ride the setting. How can i get rid of that and change my settings? also it says...

there are a comple things you might try here. 1. on the door to the tstat there shuld be instructions on the tstat on how to program it. 2. You can also remove the batteries from the unit as well and leave them out for a while to reset it. You may also have to remove the tstat by pulling it out from the bottom and lifting it off then replacing it. this off course is with out the batteries installed.
As to the filter light . Newer tstats have a feature to remind home owners to service the filters which is all to common ingnored. You do not say the tstats make or model .. that 2 would help

With thermostat set to cool and fan to auto ac unit will not turn on.blower in furnace work and the filter has been replaced?

Hello, try jumping the r and g terminals on the tstat subbase, if this turns on the blower motor then you have a bad tstat. If not then chevk for 24 volts between r and c, if you have 24 volts there then the relay on the control board is bad and the board must be replaced. Does the blower run when set to heat?

Setting changes! what is most effecient setting? Is a manual available?

Hi; Okay I have had over the last 25 years been ask the same question a thousand times. Technicly speacking so many BTUs are needed to cool or heat a space,(square feet). If You have a high heat or cooling load it will require more BTUS to reach Your normal desired temperature If You leave for work in the summer and turn up the tstat to 90

degrees. When You get home and turn down the tstat to 75 degrees Your air cond. system will run a very long time and pull more power due to the excessive load. This process can sometimes exceed the normal amperage rating ion the equipment and will incress Your power bill and shorten the life of Your equipment. So with this being said You can pay me now or pay me later. I personally think if you leave out for any length of time set Your tstat up to 80 degrees or 5 to 7 degrees slide cooling or heating this is acceptable. I wouldnt recomend a programmable tstat these devices are very complex to program or diagnose. These devices will make You some times pull Your hair out and run around the house screeming in a rage.

My compressor takes about 30 minutes to kick on in my house

that seems like too long at most delays and lock outs that are built into a system throught the tstat and the outdoor systems defrost board should only take about ten minutes. at most twenty if you had a dual fuel system. (heat pump outside and gas furnace inside). check the installer programming on your tstat may have a compressor lock out set too long for some reason.that or possible bad lowvoltage connections or maybe ants in you contacts at compressor outside. could be many things

Carrier thermostat reading stuck on 50 but doesn't work

If it is Carrier tstat. Some have resets other dont. Kill power to insid unit. WAit five minutes turn back on. If it has batteries take them out. But the storm may have damaged the tstat. I had a thunderstorm damage 11 tstats in one building. You can buy a tsta at Home depot that will work and they are easy to wire. Just make sure you get the coorect tstat. If the unit is straight cool electric thats the easy one. A heat pump you need a Tsta with two stage heat one stage cool. You can pick one up for about 25 to 30 dollars. Please call back for more help be glad to assist.Rusty

Control suplimental system with carrier infinty system

Not really unless it is 24v control on the new stuff. However it is you can use the voltage from white (or W) at the tstat. You will be using the power supply of the carrier furnace. install a 3 amp fuse. and be prepare to replace the fuse in furnace while testing . The most you can get on those transformers is about 10 mpers @ 24v.

Carrier thermostat

I hate to say it but Ive had trouble with Carrier's Tstats doing similar improper things. Unfortunatly the only repair is going to be replacement of the whole tstat. I recommend Honeywell's FocusPRO or VisionPRO tstat. Ive yet to have one fail and they have a 5yr warranty if they ever do.
