Hi, i have sony vgn-fw350j i was restoring windows vista from recovery dvd s, after 2nd dvd windows installation completed but sony applications were left and it gave me 502:58 error. so plz help me

I recommend trying the restoration for your Sony VGN-FW305J again using the recovery partition that most likely resides in your hard drive. This is accessed by pressing F10 when prompted on boot up. This will eliminate any problems your restoration encountered that may have been caused by errors or scratches on your restoration DVD's.

The manual for your Sony VGN-FW305J is available here from sony, and will detail full restoration procedure as well.

Additionally, you will note that there are many downloads from sony's e-support website, including many applications, drivers and updates, for your model of laptop.

Not recovery for Vista after installed Windows XP. Not repair file recovery.

The Computer is shipped with the Recovery Center, a hidden partition in the Hard Drive. Please restart the Computer and press the F10 key when the VAIO logo appears to access the Recovery Center.
If the Recovery Center is accessible, select Restore C Drive to reinstall the pre-installed Operating System, Applications and the Drivers (restore to factory settings).
If the Recovery Center is not accessible, then the Recovery partition may be deleted. In that case, you can contact Sony Accessories and Parts Center from US at: 1-800-488-SONY (7669)to order the Recovery Discs.

Good Luck!
Thank you for contacting.

I am having VGN 23G and it came with Vista Home Premium. Right now im using window 7. The os's is working properly. Due to 1GB of RAM using vista is a bit frustrating . All the drivers for VAIO VGN 23G...

All the VAIO Computers will be shipped with the Recovery partition in the Hard Drive. If the Hard Drive is not completely formatted, you can access the Recovery partition by pressing the F10 key for 5 to 10 seconds when the VAIO logo appears.

If you're able to access the Recovery partition, then select Restore C Drive option to restore the Computer back to the factory settings.
Let me inform you how to check the if Recovery partition is available.

Press windows+R key and type diskmgmt.msc and check if you're able to view EISA partition. If EISA partition is there, then the Recovery partition is available and you can access by pressing the F10 key at start-up.
If the EISA partition is not there, then the partition is deleted, then you can purchase the Recovery Discs for your Computer which may cost $15 to $35.

My Sony VAIO VGN-N325E notebook came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Edition. My question: If I wanted to replace the onboard 320gb hard drive would I have to purchase another copy of Windows Vista ?

Just use one of the cloning disk tools (Norton Ghost, Acronis e.t.c.) to make a copy from the one you have to the new one. Google for a program. I suggest you Acronis but it's not free.

Hi what is the buttom i press while i turn on my laptop to recover vista vgn cr490 i try but didnt work

Try with F10 key at start up.

Restart the System, tapping the F10 key immediately. This should trigger the System to boot directly to the Recovery Partition, and initiate the VAIO Recovery Center, without requiring the Windows Operating System to load.

In the VAIO Recover Center, select the option 'Restore C: Drive' and follow the onscreen instructions to perform a C: Drive Recovery.

Performing a C: Drive Recovery will erase all the data present in the C: Drive and will reinstall the preinstalled Operating System, Applications and the original Drivers.
