Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

It sounds like you need a manual for your calculator. You can download a scanned copy here, and it will explain what all the keys are for. For now, here is the way to set the calculator for a five decimal place display:

- Press the MODE key three times. A menu offering choices of FIX, SCI or NORM will appear.
- Press the 1 key to select FIX mode. The message "0~9?" will appear.
- Press the 5 key. This tells the calculator to display five digits after the decimal.

Spend some time reading the manual and work with the calculator. It's a powerful tool with a lot of capabilities. Thanks for using Fixya!

Check the calculator with a simple 2X2 matrix that you can invert by hand easily and see if it gives you the wrong inverse for it. It is also possible that YOU made the mistake.

It does not solve complex number equations. You can do simple calculations on complex numbers: addition, multiplication, etc. But nothing fancy.

I am sorry but the image does not show any Degree button.

To set the angle unit you have to press the Mode button twice before you arrive at the angle unit configuration. See the screen capture below.

The capability of these calculators to handle irrational numbers in radical form is limited to square roots. Roots of index other than 2 are always displayed in their decimal representation.

If the calculator IO mode is set to MathIO, square roots will be displayed with the radical symbol. More complicated expressions with square roots might not be preserved and will be given as decimal numbers.

Look for a key marked [x^-1] or [1/x]. The marking may be on the key or on the face of the calculator. In the latter case you will have to press the SHIFT key first. Before you can calculate the reciprocal of a number the number must be entered.

The DEG is merely indicating that the angular mode is set to degrees. If you want to change it to radians or grads, press SHIFT MODE and make your selection.

Likewise, the FIX is merely indicating that the calculator is displaying numbers in fixed decimal notation. If you're not seeing any digits to the right of the decimal point, then you're in FIX 0 mode. To change it, press SHIFT MODE. You can choose FIX and the calculator will prompt for the number of digits, or you can select NORM.

yes this works i think, but when you do 5 decimal setting like this, when doing normal smaller calculations, it shows 5 decimals, not ideal, another thread here says mode>norm 3> then number 2 or number 1, sorts it out, where little calculations are normal, and 5 decimal calculations show accordingly with no short cut answers. ok thankyou all. great site!
