You do not have to "twist" the belt.
You should be able to find your answer at this URL:
http://www.bissell.com/product_search.aspx?searchType=main&searchtext=3522
Look at the users guide for information on changing the belt. I would suggest that while you are changing the belt, also take time to clean the beater brush, you have to remove it anyway to change the belt. Clean the brush as best you can and add some WD40 to both ends between the brush and the small plastic pieces that hold it in place with the vacuum.

HOW DO I CHANGE BELT ?

Hello! Below are step-by-step instructions for changing the belt on your Hoover S1147.

1. Rotate nozzle to the vertical position. Lift off front cover.

2. Remove the two bottom plate screws.

3. Pivot off bottom plate making sure to unhook center tab on inside edge of nozzle.

4. Remove agitator and used belt from nozzle.

5. Put new belt on agitator. Position agitator in nozzle orienting agitator end caps with slots on both sides of nozzle. The belt should line up with tab on inside of nozzle.

I can't get the screws out to replace the belt on my carpt shampooer...

No screws need to be taken out on a Kirby for a belt change. Take the nozzle off, remove the base plate with the 2 twist locks, pull the brushroll out. Puton the new belt, and re-assemble. Twist the belt lifter around the belt, replace the nozzle, spin the belt lifter back, and go vacuum

What makes a bissell vac 3130 throw out dirt instead of sucking it up? i just changed the belt that was broken.

Does your vac require you to twist the belt and fit it onto a shank on the impeller? If so twisting the wrong way will make your beater bar roll the wrong way and that will make it throw dirt out the front.

I can't change the belt on my Ultimate G Diamond Edition

You have to take the nozzle off. Then twist the handle to OFF position to catch and stretch the belt, put the nozzle back and then twist the knob to ON.

There is video manual on the front page on goodvac.com too...

Good Luck,

How do you change the belt on a kirby sentia vacuum cleaner?

ok Imussati here is how you change the belt take the roller brush out and put the belt in the center of the roller brush place the roller brush back in nowtake the name plate and twist it until the hook graps the belt it may seem like it is to tight but keep turning it once you get the belt twisted to the highest point put the nozzle back on the vacuum and lock it down then turn the face plate back the way it was and it should allow the belt to slip around the driveshaft and you are ready to roll. hope this helps

You need top lace belt on brush roller and re[-assemble by putting plastic cover on which is retained by 2 recessed philips screws.. Prize off triangular coverat fornt.behing that you should see the belt lying loose. You need to get a blunt object to twist and push belt ovet the motor shaft. You may get it on in wrong direction and if you do,loosen off belt and twist the other way.
