That would be the roller nearest the vent. The heat gets to the roller. You should remove the roller and clean it with emory cloth then add some HVAC oil to the shaft to kill the squeal. Zoomspout oil won't dissipate , is nonflammable, and heat resistant. What would cause a squeeking sound in the drum of - 7f90fe6.jpgTo get into the dryer:You pop the top buy using a putty knife on number 3 and remove the front panel,

Have a G.E. DRYER PDVH515 . It squeeks, roughly on every rotation of drum. Not a consistant long noise. It's been going on for some time now so wondering if greater damaged may be done? Thankyou

The sound is most likely from the rear drum teflon bearing failing. It may also be the front teflon glides. Or both.

The problem is not going to get better and will gradually get worse. You won't do any real damage if you continue to use the dryer.

However, if the sound stops being a squeak, and sounds more like a grinding, metal to metal sound, stop using it and call the repairman.

NBXR453EVOWW dryer squeeks

The rear drum bearings could be going out, and believe it not, on some rare occasions the motor itself could make a chirping sound.

Dryer makes a squeeking,or "chirping" noise while

Most likely the problem is the drum rollers are in need of lubrication.
Lube the drum rollers and this should solve your noise problem

My dryer is squeeking when turned on and stops when the door is opened or it is stopped. what could cause this?

most dryers have drum rollers and an idler pulley. either of these could be squeeking. it also could be the motor bearings going bad.

Dryer is squeeking Drum is tilted down in front. Drum is not sealed to front panel

Sounds like you lost the lower roller/mount for the dryer drum.

SearsPartsDirect online should have a parts breakdown for you so can spot the part in question.

Dryer making a high pitched squeek, I took apart

I normally don't work on gas dryers but it sounds like the drum rollers are in need of lubrication. Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them. If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem. I will include these two websites for parts and further help: http://www.partselect.com/ http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx Both also have chat assistance 24/7. Good Luck, I hope this helps Please rate me, Thank You

Well I do not know which brand you have but I have pictorials on all kinds of dryers at my website. I am guessing yours is a GE. Check out my repair PICTORIAL.
Note: Not pictured is a WE3X75 bearing that goes on the rear of the drum and fits into the center hole pictured above.

I have a Maytag Legacy Dryer SDE305DAYW that is squeeking. How do I change the belt?

the belt is not causing the squeek. either the tub rollers, or the idler pully is squeeking. you must remove the front panels and drum to inspect these parts. usually when a roller or idler pully is squeeking, you need to replace them. if they arnt to worn, you can clean the shaft and grease them to stop the squeek, but i dont recomend that, as it will just be a temporary fix and will start squeeking again. this isnt a easy repair if you've never done it. let me know if you have any further questions.
