Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

I have a dyson model seven all floor. It is making a terrible grinding noise when the carpet knob is engaged. Could something have gotten sucked up into the belt compartment, off the brush belt? Any ideas?

That is most likely what happened. You may want to open up the bottom where the floor brush is and check the condition of the belt and as to whether or not something is caught in the belt or beater brush. The owner's manual should provide directions on changing the belt. While you are changing the belt, give the beater brush a good cleaning and add some WD40 to the ends of the brush where the plastic holders are located.
If you find my solution to be of help, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up rating from you.

My dyson is sucking to hard after I cleaned it

Hi Nanci, had this problem once myself on an older vaccum. (I now have a dyson myself and not terribly impressed with the quality). My solution was to clean the actual underside of the vacuum head. (with some sort of light grease solvent). It becomes covered in built up grease deposits off the carpet and makes it almost impossible to slide. Then I put a light coat of talcum powder on it and its been good ever since. Hope it works for you. Cheers Bob.

Dyson dc24 - just tried to use after being in storage, making loud noise and seems to be blowing out rather than in. Maybe a part missing? The hole at the top of the bin attachment is sucking air...

The wand attachment at the top is supposed to only suck in when it\'s in the upright position, otherwise the suction should be used when the vacuum in rolled on the carpet/wood/surface.

If it\'s still under warranty, contact Dyson directly. This site may help: dyson.com/support.aspx

I hope that helps.

Older Dyson 07 Animal, loud ratcheting noise on carpet setting

That is an indication that the belts are worn, stretched or broken. You simply need to replace the belt. Here is a link to the belt(s) you need and a manual you can view:

Hoover makes terrible screaching sound when using upright.

It's most likely the bushings/bearings in the beater bar (roller). The beater bar cover is fairly easy to remove -- take it off and investigate. Could be that the roller only needs lubricating on the ends. Also, check the belt to see if it's intact or damaged.

Clean area thoroughly.

If this is not the problem, please, let me know.

Dyson vacuum brush roll doesn't turn

The brushbar should only turn when you meet two conditions:
1) When you step on the front of the machine and pull back on the handle (recline the machine in other words)
2) The dial is set to CARPETS

The brushbar shouldn't turn at all when it is set to the BEAR FLOORS setting.

To rectify the problem - call the Dyson Helpline so that they can refer you to an authorized dealer in your area - the repair dealer will inspect the dial and figure out why the functionality seems to be switched. They'll be able to fix it for you.
