Replace the thermal protector on a Saeco Espresso machine.

This expresso machine is a double boiler unit and the thermal fuse is located in the steamer boiler (boiler closest to the top of the unit). The fuse is actually wedged into the steam boiler. Make sure the unit is unplugged. Remove the water reservoir then remove the 4 screws that hold the reservoir housing in place (you will need a torx wrench for 2 of the screws). Next remove the warming lid on the top of the unit by lifting it from the back. Remove the 4 screws that hold the metal upper cover in place. You may need to remove the 2 screws that hold the front panel in place to have enough room to loosen the thermal fuse fixing plate. Unplug the wires that plug into steamer knob control unit. Remove the protective cover to the steam boiler. Loosen the screw to the thermal fuse fixing plate. Remove the thermal fuse and replace with new fuse. Do not solder in the new fuse otherwise you may cause the fuse to fail due to the heat of soldering. The original fuse is a 233 Celcius and 15A. I purchased a thermal fuse from radio shack that is rated at 228 Celcius and 10A (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102788). So far it works fine. You can also purchase thermal fuses from http://www.goodmans.net/get_list_632_2.htm. For a schematic go to http://www.saecoparts.com/user/Sirena SIN 025RX explodeddiagram.pdf.

If the thermal fuse is out on oven will the microwave still heat

If the Thermal Fuse is out, the oven will not get hot. you will need to purchase the fuse and replace it for it to work again. You will need to pull the oven out becuase the fuse is on the backside of the oven.

The Dryer is 15 years old . . . whirlpool dryer serial number MD1912702. Last night it was running, drying a load of laundry. It stopped. Now it will not start. the timer works. The power source...

Do not think yet of purchasing new dryer nor calling a service person as this may be a simple problem and you can fix it yourself. You may only need to replace some components as this type of problem is usually caused by a blown thermal fuse which is wired in series with the motor. When it blows, power to the motor is terminated causing the motor not to run. No dryer function works then when the motor cannot run.

The thermal fuse is located on the blower housing along with the cycling thermostat. Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet for the dryers with lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate the connection properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced including the cycling thermostat if the dryer starts. NEVER use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards. The thermal fuse and the cycling thermostat costs about $35.

Let us know if the problem is not addressed above or if you need further advice but indicate the exact model number of the machine for further advice.

My Starbucks Sirena Espresso Machine wont turn on. nothing happens. nada zip. I suspect its the power button itself. Do these things have fuses?

The thermal fuse in my Starbucks Sirena Expresso Machine failed. You will know if it has failed if you unit doesn't turn on and/or your unit doesn't produce steam. Does not heat ; timer OK, natural gas dryer gas

In most cases, a failure to heat is caused by a blown thermal fuse or high limit thermostat. Usually it is the fuse, but the fuse may be blown due to a defective thermostat. To find the location on your specific machine (and purchase the parts) try www.appliancepartspros.com To test the fuse, WITH THE MACHINE UNPLUGGED, put an ohmmeter or continuity tester across the fuse with it's wires unhooked. It should have continuity. If it is open, replace it. If the thermal fuse blows, it is fairly common to find the dryer vent partially blocked as well. Make sure it is clear. Thermal fuses are fairly cheap, but you don't want to have to replace it every other week. Good luck.

Dryer will not work at all

I just finished changing the thermal fuse on my dryer, model MDE5500AYW, and it solved my problem. The thermal fuses can be purchased at any appliance part store...and cost me $4.

I believe that you probably purchased a kit of fuses which provides fuses for several different types of dryers. That way the parts store can sell you the kit without knowing exactly what type of dryer you have. If I am right about this, there is no yellow fuse in your dryer, you will need to buy a new one to replace the red dot fuse. Also, you will want to find out what is causing it to blow again so quickly, probably your exhaust duct is a little plugged, causing the inside chamber to get too hot.
