Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi, I purchased a acer on 8/20/10. Updated with a new video card on 9/9/10. Worked great until 10/3/10. I was playing a game and the computer froze. I had to do a hard shut down. Computer came back up, but froze at welcome screen. I kept shutting it down and trying again but would never go past welcome screen. Called customer support and they had me reinstall the os from the harddrive. When that was finished it had to restart to finish installing updates and it hung again. Called them back and they didn't know what was wrong so they wanted me to ship it in which would take 3 weeks. I took it to a computer repair shop and he said hard drive and video card was bad. Purchased a hard drive from him and returned the video card for a new one. Put it back together and it still is freezing at welcome screen. If you keep trying it, it will finally load and work unlike the first time which it never came up. I don't know what to do now. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

Hello sir, if your hard drive and video card is new for now, then maybe your memory card is not enough for your PC. And please try to check the processor because I encountered some problems like that.

The black ops freezes in the same place over and again i escape the chair i get punced and that is as far as i get i have reinstalled the game starting over and did not work how do i get passed that?

The graphics card doesn't support this game. Many realistic type games "Highly Realistic Graphics" need the added performance of a dedicated higher end graphics card. Example: I'm a huge gamer and I play games that you could/would play on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. So my Gaming Video Card cost me $480 US dollars. ( High End )
Look at the recommended, supported Video Card for Black Ops and go from that point "Note" If your computer is a laptop; chances are, you will not be able to do any video upgrades. You'd just be out of luck and your laptop wasn't made for higher end games. If it is a Desktop, you might be in luck. To upgrade a desktop: (1) Available video card slot (2) Does the computer case support a video card upgrade (3) What power supply does your computer have and what WATT Power supply does the new video card need. Most higher end video cards need a higher WATT power supply - So standard power supply 350 WATT - Video upgrade average 500Watt to 800Watt.

Hope this helps, Have a great night..

Why "OpenGL/Direct3D" Problem ?

This isn't a solution as of yet but if you have updated everything and it runs fine for 14/17 minutes it could be that the card is overheating. I have run into this several times with gamers. The load on the card causes it to heat up more when playing games. Check and make sure all vents and the fan are clean for one. Over time they will clog and not cool your CPU and Video Card.
In other cases the video card is just not up to it. It will play for a time, overheat and then distort or stop working at all. Is that card adequate for the games you play?
One gaming laptop I worked on overheated and soon the graphics card would not work at all. Had to replace the motherboard.
First make sure it's not overheating, Second, check compatibility of your hardware to your game. Third, double check your drivers, completely uninstall then reinstall.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck

Upgrade Compaq Presario(model sr5433wm) to play games on PC.

Your computer will support up to 4GB of memory - using two 3GB modules. Memory type is 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM which you can purchase on line or at a ocal computer outlet. Likewise for the purchase of your video card. For step-by-step instructions on installing the card, check out this link:

I just upgraded the memory and video on my HP Pavilion (first cousin of your COMPAQ), and it's a simple operation.

I just purchased an Acer Aspire X1300 desktop computer. I was wondering what would be a good graphics card to buy for it?

If you are a gamer, look up the system requirements at the game review or distributor's sites of the games you want to play. Don't get the minimum recommended video card, but buy the recommended or optimum card for the game. Usually newer nVidia or ATI cards are safe bets for a couple of years. Be sure to know what type of interface (plug-in slot) your computer has for the graphics card, PCIe, AGP, or the older PCI. Epinions.com is a good spot to check reviews and prices. Gamer forums often have advice, too.

Video card

The only drivers I could find, because Acer's site is faulty, were from the European Acer site. I don't think the drivers differ, however. Click the link below and you'll find all the drivers/software/BIOS for this PC.

The card does not have the requirements to play the game. You would need to upgrade to a better video card if you want to play this game on your system. Sorry.

Hi
Please make sure the video card driver is updated and also the Bios.

Make sure the ac adapter is connected to the system while you are doing the bios update.

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_4530/vista/Drivers/Chipset_NV_v.(17.05_logo).zip
Update these drivers
and let me know if it does not work.
Also please post the system requirements for your games so that I could check whether this laptop will be able to run these games.
Also would like to know do u have an integrated video card or a discrete video card. This is very important when you are trying to play games.

Thank you
