Hello, When I start my laptop after about 3 min. it freezes. If I let it load to just the login page and let it sit there it still freezes (the blinking cursor will just stop blinking). If I hurry and...

hi there,
thanks for providing the OS type.
The issue may be with any hardware or software you recently installed /uninstalled.,

It may also be due to the reason that some Hardware has stopped its function alltogather or has got a wrong update.

We may diagnose the issue by;
1. restart in Safe mode. Resolved? No
2. Restart F8: VGA mode

Still not fixed?

3. restart in safemode again,
Go Start>Run> Msconfig
startup tab;
uncheck not necessary items .(You need to be most decisive in this step)
4. ok.
5. shtdown.
6. reboot in safe mode

Worked?

I want to restore the pc to factroy settings but i dont have a disk

1.Restart the computer.

2.Press the "F8" key after the computer reboots but before the "Windows" logo appears on the screen. You should now see the "Advanced Boot" menu.

3.Scroll down through the menu options using the down arrow key. Stop when "Repair Your Computer" is highlighted and hit the "Enter" key.

4.Select the language you wish to use and press the "Enter" key.

5.Type in the computer's administrator ID and password. Press the "Enter" key.

6.Scroll through the options using the down arrow key. Choose "Restore (name of computer manufacturer) Settings." Press the "Enter" key.

7.Choose "Yes" when asked if you want to reformat the hard drive.

8.Press the "Enter" key to begin the reformatting process. The process takes a few minutes, so be patient. Do not turn off the computer or attempt to stop the process after it has begun, or this may result in major damage to the hard drive.

9.Choose "Finish" and press the "Enter" key to restart the computer. The computer will restart with the original factory settings.

How do I reboot it? Compaq 5716 runs very slow Can't download anything paid for interent and the computer just freezes. I want to do a system restore where there is nothing on the computer like brand new.

There are different ways on how to reboot a computer. If your laptop is not operational like it's frozen or crashed with the mouse frozen, try the simple steps below:

1. The custom way to reboot your computer is to press and hold the power button until it shuts off. Then press the power again if you want to turn it back on.

2. If your computer is functional and you just want to reboot/restart it, click on Start then click on Turn Off and select Restart. It will restart your computer.

3. If you can't click on the Start button but your mouse is still functional, you can simply press the Ctrl + Alt + Del button on your keyboard to bring up the Task Manager. Then on the Task Manager window, click on Shutdown tab, then choose Restart.

4. If your computer wont turn off no matter what you do, like holding the power button and the steps above, try to unplug the power cable for few minutes then plug it back in. Try to turn on the computer again.

System Restore

Click on START > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

When you do System Restore, this feature will restore your computer's settings back to its normal or functional condition. You can just choose an earlier date where it was working fine. The good thing about system restore is it wont delete your recent saved files and data.

If you really want a clean hard drive/system like what you said (brand new), reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows Operating System is what you need. You need your Windows installation CD to do it. Click on the links below on how to reinstall your Windows Operating System.

PC does not boots / does not start

Since your system reboots even if you stay in the Bios setup the problem with your system might be because of heating up of the proceesor, which might be caused if the fan CPU fan is rotating slowly or is not rotating at all. If the fan is rotating slowly change the cpu fan and try to reinstall XP

REBOOTING PROBLEM ACER ASPIRE T135

Having a constant reboot means u are getting a type of system error. A easy way to stop it is to right click on My computer click Properties, then go to Advanced system settings, and then click settings under startup and recovery. There about halfways down u will se a dab called automatic restart. Uncheck it, and your pc will not restart. Then click start, click run type cmd (open command prompt)
then type: chkdsk /f
then it will ask u something, type Y and close that window. then restart your computer, and it will check your harddrive. Let it do a scan.

good luck

Reboots itself within minutes

I think that if you can boot up in safe mode you can slow things down enough to do something. If you can get there, you can stop the rebooting by going into "Control Panel", click on "System", click on the "Advanced" tab, click on the "Settings" box and uncheck the "Automatically Restart" box.
Then you can go in to "Add or remove programs". If you remove the AOL program, you'll probably be good!
Please let me know how this works for you.
