If you updated to iTunes 7.1, you will get the null error. Here is the website, download the patch and your program should work. http://www.valusoftsupport.com/KBArticle.asp?kbid=5590

Go to the website, and download the patch :) I had the same problem. Now, I'm having a new problem where I used the program, and now the loading image won't go off of my screen, I've tried restarting, changing my desktop picture, and nothing seems to rid it of it.

You will need either a 9 pin serial cable or 25 pin. You need to reverse rx and tx ground them both alike and reverse rts and cts ( request to send and clear to send ) It's pretty easy and a product called a null modem will do it if your not handy with a pin puller. Some of the more fancy null modems have leds showing the flow of data. It's usually under $10. Null modems go on a straight RS232 cable of course. Staples may have it or office max.

How to fix error 48 in itunes

The message does not indicate that there is an issue with the iPod but that that iTunes was unable to read the iPod software update it uses to restore or update your iPod. You can delete the folder containing the iPod software update files so iTunes can download a new copy of the iPod software update.

Here are the steps to take if you get this message:

Eject iPod and quit iTunes.
Use Disk Utility in Mac OS X or run chkdsk in

Windows to verify there are no other issues on your hard drive.
Locate the iPod Software Updates folder:

In Mac OS X, the folder is
/Users/username/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates

In Windows Vista, the folder is
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

In Windows XP and Windows 2000, the folder is
C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

Note: If you don't see the files in Windows, turn on the Show hidden files option.
Windows Vista: Open Computer and choose Folder and Search Options from the Organize menu.
Windows XP and 2000: Open My Computer and click Folder Options from the Tools menu.
Click the View tab.
In the Advanced Settings pane, select the "Show hidden files and folders" button.
Click OK.
Drag the iPod Software Updates folder to the Trash or Recycle Bin.
Connect iPod and open iTunes. You will need to be connected to the Internet to download the files.

Then restore the ipod agin -

If the machine is a Dell with DellControlPoint, open start, run then type msconfig and hit enter. Choose the Startup tab and find the startup item named "Dell" with the Command from "C:\Program Files\Dell\Dell Control Point\Connection Manager\Dell.UCM.exe" and uncheck the box. Hit Ok, then reboot your computer.

If it's a drive in an external case with a USB connector, and you're idea is to plug it into each computer, that won't work.

Otherwise, you share it on a network. Choose which machine it will be in permanently, then share it.

Of course, that means you have to have a network...

Almost always, when a USB drive doesn't assign a drive letter in MY Computer the issue is a Mapped network drive using the drive letter the USB drive is attempting to use.

With the drive connected, open DISK MANAGEMENT find the USB Drive, right click it and assign it an available drive letter.

Have you tried syncing on more than one computer and get the same error msg as a result?

Could very possibly be a bad hard drive in your ipod.

Or, your iTunes is having trouble locating the music your trying to add to it. Try adding music manually, buy using drag and drop. See ifyou still get the same error. Let me know.
