Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook
My laptop have been dead for awhile and I don't know what is wrong with it. When I turn it on, it will shut itself off within five mins and it will be really hot. I'm thinking something is wrong with the fan because it makes a really loud noise when it tries to cool it. Any suggestions...please let me know.
Your problem can be a thermal issue or overheating issue. try replacing the heatsink fan. you can also try to use a compressed air can to blow all the dust and obstructions getting into the way between your fan and processor. but definitely this is a ventilation problem that you must resolve immediately otherwise it might destroy your processor. also avoid placing your notebook where the air vents are obstructed

It seems your laptop computer is not cooled properly which might be beacuse of a broken cpu fan as you mentioned it makes loud noise.
The reason your laptop turns off by itself is because theres a circuitry built on the motherboard which power offs itself if the internal temperature raises, this is a safety feature to prevent your computer getting burnt.
Please avoid using your computer and take it to a shop where you can have it checked for cooling.
hope this answers your question
