Professional series - stainless Start the cycle and it seems normal, clock ticks down but a few minutes in, it engages in the "wasH' cycle (seems to have filled some water in the tub at this point which is hot) and does nothing.... the timer just ticks away.... thoughts?

Is it please possible to provide the model number of your dishwasher.

When you say water in the tub is hot, is it because the dishwasher is connected to the hot water inlet connection? Do you hear the drain pump at any time trying to run?

Could be the water level sensor if the machine is not filling up enough it won't engage. Or if the door switch is bad it won't start washing. if water is hot, that is a good start

You can take the wires off the switch. Then use an ohmmeter and put it on the rx1 setting. Then place a probe on each connector of the switch. You should have a high reading with the swich in and no reading with the switch out.

Sounds like your drum brake is engaging. Fixing it is fairly cheap. YouTube it and watch a few videos on how to do it if your fairly handy.

The blue indicator light will no longer come on at the end of the cylce

Hello Loucinda Stanley - Try resetting the dishwasher by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit. Select a normal cycle let it run and then the indicator light should display at the end of the cycle. If it proves to be ineffective, connect with a professional to accurately pinpoint any potentially more serious issues.

Front loader won't start on certain cycles

Hello sidneyskiss - From what you have described if only the normal cycle is working, then there seems to be a communication problem coming from the main control board or wiring failure. Try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart washer. If it proves to be ineffective, I would suggest contacting a professional technician to move forward accurately.

The normal and economy lights are blinking and cannot get to wash through a full cycle. water is in the bottom of the washer

You will have to check if the dishwasher is stuck in the drain cycle or wash cycle.

The normal and economy lights flashing means there is flooding in the unit.

Reset the unit by pressing START button for 4 secs. If the flashing does not stop then you have to call the technician. There may be a leakage which is causing the flood switch to activate.

GE Profile WPRE6100G Top Load Washer My washer is 2 yrs old and has started to make a loud metalic banging noise during the wash cycle. It does not during the spin cycle. Doesn't seem to matter whether...

Hi!!
The "Metallic banging/clicking" sound you hear is the Shifter mechanism engaging or disengaging.
The drive system will engage at the start of the Agitate Cycle and disengage when the Agitate Cycle is complete. This occurs multiple times during the wash. GE claims this is a normal sound and should not be concerned about it. Check page 10 of your Operating Manual, if you do not have a manual, click on this link to download one http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90323.PDF

Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Washer agitates, drains OK, but spin doesn't start

Timer is defective. Your unit has a netural drain. When finished agitating, the shuts down and then starts up reversing to drain and spin. On the initial reverse start, the water drains without the transmission spinning. After a timed period 3-4 minutes, the timer is supposed to pause, stopping the motor for a few seconds. When the motor stops again, the transmission shift to the spin cycle and when the timer resumes power tothe motor it should spin. You are doing the same thing when you lift the lid...stopping the timer and then the tranny shifts and when you set the lid down, the washer spins. Replace the timer.......
