Can't change channels with remote

You are in need of replacing the eeprom. Location of the eeprom on the TV board is IC002. To determine the correct eeprom, you must know the numbers on IC 1001 which is a stereo decoder and the numbers on IC001 which is the microprocessor. This will determine which eeprom part number for your TV, as three different ones are available. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

Hi I accidentaly actiivate the child control on my tv and turned it off, I don't have the original remote any longer and I can not turn on my tv. Please help Mike

Concerning the problem...it is extremely likely that you have a corrupt EEPROM. A very common problem with this TV.The correct EEPROM (IC location IC 002) is dependent on which microprocessor (IC location IC001) and which stereo decoder (IC location IC 1001) are present on the board being repaired. Take this info to a TV tech and they will find the correct EEPROM to replace. Your TV will come back to life. If not, give me the numbers of ICs IC001 and IC1001. I will forward the correct EEPROM part #. Then the tech will repair your TV. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Older tv dont know our smartlock code how do we reset?

You have a corrupt eeprom. This is a case of mistaken identity. The eeprom is located on the TV board as IC002. Locations are labled next to each tv part. This eeprom [IC002] is dependent on which microprocessor [IC001] and which stereo decoder [IC1001] is used. There are three different eeproms, and you will need the correct one for your TV. Check the number on the actual IC . For example IC001 may be MCU A22V01-T0 and IC1001 might be MSP3440. If this is the case you will need eeprom part number [location IC002] 4835 310 57593. Philps/Magnavox parts have twelve numbers and that is the correct part number for this particular example. Thanks for asking and show your hands of support!

Magnavox picture has started rolling.

You have a failing eeprom. The location on the board is IC002. The correct eeprom depends which microprocessor [IC001] and stereo decoder [IC1001] is used in your TV board. When removing old eeprom , insert a eight pin socket and solder into place. Now you may insert the new eeprom. This will be handy the next time you need to replace this IC the next time!

Magnavox model 27ms3404/17 tv,green light comes on,goes back off,but tv wont come on. saw the same problem listed for another model & was curious if it would be the same repair?

You have a corrupted eeprom! Location IC002. You must see the number of microprocessor IC001 and stereo IC1001 to decide which eeprom to purchase! And always when removing the eeprom to install an eight pin IC socket first. This way you may remove the eeprom in the event you purchase the wrong one or have replace at a another time. Rare but can happen!

HAVE TO TURN TV OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT STAYS ON

You have a bad ground on the power switch..resolder this and then you may also have a weak EEprom..location IC002. You will need to see IC1001 and IC 001 numbers to determine your correct EEprom! As there are about six different EEproms. But try soldering the power switch and see.

I have a GE Television that was manufactured in Nov 1995. I can't get it to turn on. I know the power source is good. I suspect that the internal fuse blew and I am looking for the schematic so I can...

The chassis series used in that set was notorious for bad solder connections around its tuner and a few other places. (They used the tuner shield to provide a number of ground connections, and these cracked and went flaky.) These connections would cause a variety of problems including a set that won't turn on.

The fuse is located right near the AC mains cord connections on the board. You will probably find it's good. Not much went wrong on this chassis to blow that fuse unless it was power line troubles or shorted parts on the power supply primary side.

Check for 5 volts at one of the 3 pins on the the remote sensor. If the power is there, you probably have a bad EEPROM IC. Operating parameters and TV settings are stored in that chip, and the bad solder connections I mentioned above can lead to the data getting scrambled and a "dead" set. To repair this, you need to resolder the connections at the tuner shield and a few other locations, then replace the EEPROM.

If you Google "RCA tuner solder problems" or something similar, you should find all kinds of information about where to solder. The replacement EEPROMs are available from MCM (www.mcminone.com) and you order the appropriate IC for the chassis. I'm not home now, but when I get home later I'll check my files for the service bulletin RCA released, and look up the EEPROM you need in case that turns out to be the trouble.
