Question about Fossil VT2654 Pocketwatch

Open Question

I have an Ingersoll Quartz Mens Pocket Watch (90s vintage) and I cannot find the access slot to remove the back and change the battery. Nor does it have key divots for unscrewing. It is a #21001, and it's driving me nuts. I have tried prising the back off, but alas, it seems to be welded on (haha). Can someone please help me?

SOURCE: to replace battery of pocket watch

My son has a Timex pocket watch-I just got the back off with a very tiny flat-head screwdriver- the niche or indent you're looking for is almost indiscernible; look very closely, the edge of the back barely deviates from where it meets the edge of the front piece. Looks more like a flaw than an intentional point of entry

Replace the battery in an ingersoll japan movement

I expect the battery will be where it is to be found in most other watches. Remove the back of the case and the battery should be fairly simple to access.

How to place the back on

It is highly recommended that you take it to a jeweller's to replace the battery. If the battery is replaced you need to reset the watch by push/short internal reset switch after replacing battery.

The back screws on or it pops on by lifting it from a tab or indention. If there are slots on the back it screws on. Go to Harbor Freight an get the tool used to remove it. It is also avaiable on ebay. Just be careful.

Is it possible to convert a wind-up watch to battery(quartz ?) operation ? Thanks.

Unfortunately no, the only option is to remove the mechanical works and replace it with a quartz circuitry.

I have a Majestron quartz pocket watch. How do I replace the battery?

  • Flip over your pocket watch. Remove the back of your watch. The back of watches are either screwed on by four small Phillips head screws (unscrew them) or the watch has a press inserted back (slide a thin knife blade under the edge of the back of the watch and pry it off).
  • Remove the circular watch battery out of the back of the watch.
  • Take the battery to any department store or watch store and purchase a new replacement battery.
  • Insert the new battery into the back of the watch.
  • Screw on or push on the back of the watch. Set the watch to the correct time.

2003 deer pocket watch Al Agnew is it wind up or Battery

Often with battery powered watches the word "Quartz" will be written on the dial. In the abscent of that you can look at the mechanism inside (typically by removing the case back).

Alternately (this may not be an absolute confirmation) with the winder in neutral position i.e. pressed all the way in, turn the crown (winding button) and if it spins freely it's probably quartz. Because unless it's broken most mechanical watches click as the watch is
wound up (except some automatics which cant be crown wound).

Plus if it's working and left unworn for a few days yet continues to run it's probably quartz.
