In any still mode, press the self-timer button (marked with a one-handed clock). Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

"Busy" Flashing. Delaying time

How long does it take for the image to be saved? I used to have an older camera that took 4-5 seconds to save picture while a red "busy" light flashed. Some cameras just aren't as fast as others and so you may want to buy a new one.

How do i get rid of the shutter delay and multi flash while taking a picture with my sony dsc-w55

If you have your flash set to "red-eye flash", it will fire "pre-flashes" to prevent redeye in your subjects. You can turn off that feature and set it for normal flash. As far as shutter delay is concerned, all you need to do is press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep) and then you can re-compose the picture and press the rest of the way when the moment is right.

Shutter button delay

The flash need to be fully charged before it would fire the shot.

In case the battery is old and supply power is not enough to boost the flash, it will await until the orange LED of flash indicator is no longer blinking, means ready to take picture with flash light.

Replace the new full battery will be better and faster to take shot with flash enable.

Pictures taking too long, and a lightning bolt symbol appears

Hi, Could you please tell us what camera model this is?
I believe you replaced with new fully charged batteries.
Try changing the memory card. Old defective memory card will delay between shots.
If it still doesnt work, try updating the firmware of the camera.
Hope it helps...

Delayed shutter

Here as in some other posts, you can try to RESET the firmware in the menus. Go through the menus and find where it says something like reset all.
What this does is to reset it back to factory settings.
Then set the options you like, and then try the camera again.

Check the diff. modes for the picture taking. See if the flash can be turned off.

Delay when taking picture.

The delay is absolutely normal. When you press the button to take a picture, the camera takes its 1-3 seconds to focus on the image, prepare the flash. Once that's done, the camera "clicks" and the photograph is taken.

Happy shooting!

Delay in taking pictures

Shutter release button has two positions. Auto focus function activate first when u press butten halfway(u can see a focus indicator icon with beep sound). Now if u press it some more, camera will take snap at earliest .So pl confirm the subject to be focused by keeping the button half way pressed then press it some more at the right moment. Also cancel the red eye reduction function when u r using flash because it creates more delay .
