Question about Procom ML300HGA Heater

1 Answer

If you hold down the knob, to allow the propane to come in, and then click for the pilot, it will come on. Immediately after you let up on the knob, however, the pilot goes back out. Plenty of propane was there to keep feeding the pilot light.

Try the instruction at this link.

It sounds like a thermocouple problem.

Where is the pilot lite to the hot water heater

There is a small (usually ) aluminum slide door. You need to air out the immediately area of any possible gas, then turn the knob on the regulater to pilot, hold the button down for a minute or so then use a long match to light the pilot light inside that little door. Hold lit matches up to the little tube until it lights. Then turn knob to temp.

The pilot light won'jt light in my warm morning propane gas stove

If you dont have gas coming thru while holding down the button, you have one of the following; no gas, main valve off, or a bad gas valve.

Kozy world propane wall heater pilot will not light

This can be caused by several things:

1. The inline gas valve running to the the heater is OFF. Turn the valve ON.

2. The gas control knob on the heater is not exactly in the PILOT position. Unless the knob bottoms
out and you feel strong pressure (other than spring pressure) pushing back at you. It's not exactly
in the PILOT Position. Once the pilot lights, hold the control knob in for 30 seconds to 60 seconds
to allow the Thermocouple to full heat.

3. The pilot is dirty and needs to be cleaned, as do the burners.*

4. The LP Gas Tank is empty or to low to maintain te proper gas pressure.

* Here is a link to a demonstration on how to properly clean the pilot & burners.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

When i compress the propane knob for the pilot light, the whole element has propane run through it. Then when i let go of the pilot to run gas to the element, the flame goes out...? Pls help. Its brand...

Hold the knob down for at least three minutes after lighting the pilot. This give the thermocouple plenty of time to heat up and should stay lit.

Pilot will light, goes out when button let go,

A long time ago, in a place far away, I saw an old gas valve, might have been on a water heater, might have been off an A/C unit. I took my 10" adjustable wrench and unscrewed the coil that the thermocouple screws into. Now, when I have the problem that you describe I take the threaded end of the suspected thermocouple and put it into my spare. I light the pilot and hold the button down. Then, after a minute or two, I press the button on my spare, which now has the thermocouple attached. If the spare stays in the "ON" condition, I have just proven my gas valve to have faulted.

I suspect you main gas valve has failed, if you can find another valve, you can test as above, before buying a replacement valve.

Pilot light will not lite; plenty of propane. What position does the knob need to be in to lite the pilot. I see pilot, on, and off positions. It is a Williams gas unit direct vent, does not blow hot air...

Hello,
The knob needs to be turned so the arrow is pointing at "Pilot". It is the only position you will be able to depress the knob all the way down. Once you light the pilot, keep holding down the knob for 30-60 seconds. When you release the knob, the pilot should stay lit if it's working properly. If not, here's a few things to check. Is the pilot flame blue? Is the flame actually heating the thermocouple end? The thermocouple has to get hot enough to allow the gas to stay on to the pilot. Also look at the tip of the thermocouple. It should be smooth and rounded. If you're pilot flame is a lazy yellow, after time it will burn off the tip of the thermocouple, causing pilot outages. Replacing the thermocouple is usually the easiest fix it and is probably what you will need to do. But if your pilot flame is that lazy yellow, you will also need to clean it by either a tiny broach needle or using canned air (with straw attached). Be careful and because propane is heavier than air, smell low to the floor before lighting it to make sure there is not a gas leak. To be safe, close the gas shut off valve and air out the room before lighting and always follow the manufacturer's lighting instructions printed on the heater. If doing this seems too difficult or scary, then call your local propane co and they will send out a serviceman to fix it for parts and labor. Good luck! Douglas

If you have a piezo ignition, then all you will hear is one click when you turn the knob. If I am guessing correctly, when you push in the knob and turn it, the gas flows to the pilot assembly, when you turn the knob far enough it will clilck and that sends the spark to the pilot assembly to light the pilot. Try turning the knob slowly before you get to the click, that will allow more gas to flow to the pilot. If this does not work, then you may have a blockage in the pilot.
