Question about Yahoo Mail

1 Answer

I had a hack attack earlier this week in which scammers got into my Yahoo! e-mail account and sent the "Horrible Trip!!!" hoax e-mail message to everyone in my Contacts file. They also installed a false e-mail address, "dav1d_brann@yahoo.com," in my account, set it up so that all incoming e-mail would be forwarded to that address, and arranged it so that every outgoing message from my account would have the message in the header, "Please respond to dav1d_brann@yahoo.com," the false e-mail address. If a recipient of the e-mail replies by just clicking the Reply button, the reply goes to that false e-mail address, which is the scammers' address. I think that I've gotten everything straightened out except for this last, which I can't figure out how to do. How can I get rid of that "Please respond to . . ." message in the header?

Sorry but the hacker never went into yahoo server. He hacked your pc got your id and passwd alongwith your complete addressbook.. Through which he was able to send those mails. I would recommend you to immediately change password to you yahoo id alongwith password towards your administrators login and also your net connect password. This will suite the purpose unless the hacker has dumped the keylogger on your pc. In case he dumped the keylogger then the only option remaining with a normal user is to format his pc. Else, use an IP sniffer to see the packets sent and received when you are not using your internet for any purpose.

Someone has stolen my Yahoo email account and are sending out messages asking for money.

you should contact yahoo customer services and also contact you local law authority. after supplying both with the relevant information do a full virus scan of your computer it is quite possible that a scammer unleashed a spyware programme you downloaded unaware giving them access to your email and other "secure" web related data or worse your credit card details if you provided them to a website such as pay pal with 6 months of the date this email hoax situation happened! as for your contacts its quite possible that if you had yahoo IM you could salvage all of your contacts or a least a few of them

and im sorry if what i say sounds like im scare mongering but its happened to me before i now virus scan everything i download before installing anything and spyware can give a scammer all the cookies you have on your harddrive which shows all your websites also be aware of emails which have links direct to login pages its quite possible that the login pages arent 100% legitimate especially those which dont show the web address or claim login pages have been moved to a new page

Yahoo email problem

I fear your account may have been hacked by someone you don't even know. Please try to change the password of your account as early as possible for your own safety and watch what happens.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay.

Hello, Probably someone was trying to hack the account, or she sent too many attachments on a short period. This type of suspensions are usually for 48 hours. More info on this available at: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/context/context-12.html

I received which is printed bellow. Is this really from YAHOO?

This is a prank email and being sent to us by scammers and non-professional hackers who try to steal your password and user information. Please don't ever reveal you identify rather simply reply them using a rude sentences. I do this often so that they will not ever send those emails again. This is a shameful practice since they even don't know how to hack, but asking an individual to give his/her pasword and username.... It's not even a kind of phishing, but direct information collection..
So don't ever give them your password and user information. These are scammers... scammers.. If yahoo has a server problem, they'll simply shift or update to a new server.. there's nothing like this that users are gonna have problem...
Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Someone has hack my computer

So you notice someone has been doing things in your mailbox! and you are still able to log in to your mail! Its your lucky day!
Because the attacker knows your password and can log in to your account with full privilegies anytime, being in position to change your mailbox account password making you locked out from your own mailbox with the result ACCESS DENIED!!!
You have a TROJAN HORSE installed in your computer that sends everything you write on your computer directly to the attacker.

SOLUTION: Download antivirus, run scan and as soon you are virusfree log in to your mailaccount and change your password.
Now you have locked the attacker out off your account.
Do this as soon as possible,
because the attacker might also se your attempt to clean your computer. If the attacker is faster than you he might change your mail ACCOUNT AND LOCK YOU OUT FOR EVER.....

Be fast, and good luck! if this was useful,Please vote!

Some one has stolen my email and sent out a message to everyone in my addressbook that I was in London and was robbed and needing a large amount of money what can I do?

Do you have access to your account right now? If you do, immediately change your password. Then email everyone on your address book and say your account was hacked and the last message was a hoax.

If you cant get into your account, Try using the "Forgot my password" feature to get a new password. If that doesn't work contact yahoo customer care. No matter what, get in touch with your friends as soon as possible to tell them the message was fake.
