Go to the CANON website and select DOWNLOAD LIBRARY. It will then ask you to select PRINTERS, then select IP PIXMA SERIES, then IP1700 and GO. Next you will be on a download page where you put in you OPERATING SYSTEM (Windows XP, Vista, whatever) and from there you can download the most up-to-date driver. A lot of times this is better than the disc that came in the box since the product may have had a newer driver put out by the manufacturer. THIS WORKS FOR MOST HARDWARE MANUFACTURERS.

just go to this link and clilck where it says "free download" at the top, this will install the driver on your computer, you don't need the disc. Hope that's what you were looking for.

INSTALLATION OF CANON IP1700 PRINTER
If you do not have the disk you download software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Pixma ip1700 Canon Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
Afterdownloading,findthefile,doubleclick on the file, if you get introubles ,thenfollowinstructionsbelowto reset and reinstall:


  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • Download driver from website and run the file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.
Note some printer does not work on Vista.
