Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a Side by Side, GE Refrigerator - Model #- GSL25JFPE BS Serial #- ZF228838 There is a constant "whistle type noise" that comes from the ice maker in the freezer compartment. When you open the freezer door it sounds like there is a fan in there that goes up in nosie, then low, then up..and on and on. That is no big deal;but the whistle almost sounds like a "low decimal train whistle, as opposed to a high pitched police whistle. The pitch is not always as loud as other times. The ice maker however, works perfectly.

Hi!!
Just to isolate the problem, try turning off the Ice Maker for a couple of hours. If the whistle continues, it is going to be the evaporator fan motor in the freezer compartment. Check the temp. settings, if the freezer and fridge temp are not balanced, this type of events can occur. Consult your Refrigerator Care and Use Manual for proper temp. settings. GSL25JFPE-BS Side by Side refrigerator compressor and condensor fan isn't coming on

GE refridgerators have what they call a main dome control board. This is located on the back of the machine, usually closer to one side or the other and about halfway up the machine. This board really controls everything, even as far as the dispenser in the door. I personally think this is a poor design, even though they look awesome cosmetically. Locate your model number, usually in the refridgerator side somewhere, and go to www.repairclinic.com to order the part. This is becuase they have a return policy that no one can beat. If you install the part and it doesn't work they will take it back and refund you, where as any other part distributor have a no return policy on electronic parts. Good Luck, but you won't need it. This is an easy repair.

The middle black strip on my GE refrigerator is burning hot. Model # GSL25JFPE BS. What is this and how do I fix it?

this is the wall between the freezer and the frg i think . it is warm when the compressor is running . and if hot / then look under neath unit and i thing you will fing the coils ar very dirty or the fan is not going or both . so clean coils every 3 to 4 times a year and repl fan if it has failed . and things will get better .. ,mm

I have GE GSS22WPGT and there is a constant

you have condisation on your condensor fan and it is vibrating. when you defrosted the unit you melted all the ice in the freezer. once the unit got cold again you had the same problem. it happens when you open the freezer door. the only way to fix it is to repalvce the fan and fan motor, as well as the main board. this is a costly repair unless it is under warranty.

Whisling noise coming out of inside the refrigerator. Louder when freezer door is open. maybe ice maker area?

The whistling is caused by the air circulating fan located just behind the light. It is easily accessed by removing the light cover and the two small hex screws above the light. To stop the whistling I simply turned the freezer off and pulled the fan cover out slightly to reveal the fan blades. I then pushed the blades down, toward the bottom of the until the blades stopped and i could feel the shaft slightly protruding from the top of the blades. Repositioning the blade has stopped the incessant whistling. Hope this helps!

Ge refridgerator model gsl25jfpe bs

I have a gsl25jfpe bs ge regrigerator and the baffle motor that controls air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator is out. This had been causing everthing in the fridge to freeze and cause the water to stop working due to water freezing in the storage tank. The baffle is in the back top of the fridge covered with a plastic cover. Remove plastic cover to check baffle function.
