Sometimes you have to jiggle it so the little finger is pointing straight up. You can download the manual and make the diagrams larger, sometimes that helps. If, you still have a problem call Singer at 1-800-4singer. Just be patient and it will get better, I promise. Sometimes those vertical bobbin cases are little buggers to seat.

How to fix time hook on special adition XL5700 the needle not picking up the bobbin thread

CHECK THESE FIRST::
NEW NEEDLE.
MAKE SURE NEEDLE IS INSERTED THE RIGHT DIRECTION. LOOK AT YOUR INSTRUCTION BOOK.
MAKE SURE INSERTED IS TOTALLY INSERTED.
CHECK TO SEE IF THE BOBBIN THREAD IS STUCK. ALSO, ENOUGH LENGTH OF BOBBIN LENGTH EXTENDED TO ALLOW THE NEEDLE TO PULL IT UPWARDS.
MAKE SURE THE BOBBIN THREAD IS INSERTED THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND SET WITH CORRECT TENSION.
CHECK TOP NEEDLE TENSION TO INSURE THERE IS TENSION ENOUGH TO PULL THE BOBBIN THREAD ABOVE THE THROAT.
IF THESE DON'T WORK YOU MAY NEED TO GO TO YOUR LOCAL REPLAIRMAN.

Bobbin not winding tightly

Consult your owner's manual. Possibly, you are not threading the bobbin winder correctly. The thread does go through a tensioner somewhere along the way that creates tension on the thread.
Janome MEMORY CRAFT 9700 Instruction Book Threading For Bobbin Winding
Or perhaps the tensioner is not working properly.

If neither is problem, then you can always pick up a stand-alone bobbin winder (Amazon, JoAnn's, etc) for ~$30. One brand is called Sidewinder. These bobbin winders are marvelous because you can wind bobbins without unthreading your machine. It also saves wear and tear on your machine.

Or take your machine for service.

The bobbin thread keeps bunching up on my 990 machine

It is probably not the bobbin thread that is "bunching", put different color top (maybe red), and bobbin (maybe white), thread in the machine and sew. If the top thread is messing up on the bottom of the cloth you have 3 possible solutions. Here are the solutions in order of probability:
1 - You have not threaded the UPPER thread correctly. Read your book on threading.
2 - Your UPPER thread tension is too low. Try setting it at 5 or so.
3 - Your shuttle is damaged. Get a new one.

I can't get the bobbin to work, i now how the whole thing apart, the top thread wouldn't pick up the bobbin thread and the book is NO help at all!!!

Why don't your change your needle, flat side facing to the rear, then make sure that you are threaded correctly. Now turn the handwheel towards you, never away or you will mess up your timing. Maybe go to youtube and watch some of the instruction videos. There should be no reason for the thread not to pick up the thread if you are threaded right, bobbin and top thread.

Thread keeps breaking and i can't get the stitch setting to go from stretch stitches to normal stitching

Be sure to check that the machine is threaded properly into the needle. Also look at the instruction book to be sure you have the bobbin inserted corectly and that the thread is place properly (threaded correctly) in the bobbin area. Some machines have a diagram on the machine, but if you do not sew frequently; it's easy to mis-thread the bobbin. Did your bobbin thread wind properly onto the bobbin (not loose or loopy). That too, can be a problem. Best of luck. Susan

Bobbin thread won't "pick up" right

Check that you have the needle inserted properly i.e if the needle shank has a flat side make sure you have it inserted per your instruction book ... also make sure the needle is inserted all the way. Also double check that you are using the correct needle type.

The needle does not pick up teh bobin thread

Do you mean never? Like when you are sewing or when you try to pull it up after first threading? I suspect you are either not threading correctly, not inserting the bobbin correctly, or your tension disks are full of lint. Have you had it cleaned and serviced? I would unthread, get the book out, thread according to the book, reinsert the bobbin and begin again. If that does not help, use a folded dollar bill and run it through your tension disks to clean them out.

Thread knotting around bobbin case

hello, I had the exact same problem and could not find the solution until i took my machine to my sewing sensei and i solved my tedious problem. It was actually not a tension problem at all but a threading problem. Make sure you have threaded your bobbin correctly and that when you pull on the bobbin thread that the bobbin turns the right way. (mine must spin anti clockwise to work)  Make sure that when you pull up the bobbin thread using the needle that it is not over the feed dogs connective bar but under it. A big problem when the thread gets caught around the bobbin case wheel is that the thread is looped around the feed dogs once and that causes the thread to get caught around the bobbin wheel. In conclusion, thread the bobbin correctly and read over your instruction book before spending the money to get it fixe in s shop.
