Question about Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 Notebook

1 Answer

Toshiba Laptop. I was just working on a Toshiba Laptop in the middle of saving something and it went blank on me. It reset all my icons to when the laptop was new. All my pictures and things disappeared. Its like it reset itself in the middle of me working on a project. Have you ever heard of this before?

Sounds like spyware got you.
Try this.
Turn the system restore off. System restore keeps everything in restore. Meaning......... If you have spyware or a virus, it will stay in your system. Run Spybot S&D (This program is free and is better than using msconfig as long as you go through the settings and change everything to the highest settings.) Then do the same with Adaware 2008 (sounds stupid to use 2 things for spyware, but one catches what the other one does not.). I have links on my website (tandnfamilyelectronics-online.com). These links go directly to the download so you will not get the run around. You would do good to try a program called Window Washer (http://www.download.com/Free-Internet-Window-Washer/3000-2144_4-10436825.html?cdlPid=10731707). This is a great program that completely cleans anything in your computer that you do not need. It will not clean out anything that you have to have. I have used this for years to clean out my customers computers and have cleaned as much as 3 gigs of trash out. If you contact me I will give you some tools that I have for free that will do a great job on your computer. I have them ready to download and I will give you the link. (dean@tandnfamilyelectronics-online.com)

Send me the complete specs of your system and I can help you more. I hope that this helps you. There is no reason the really buy a program for spyware when there are free things to use that work great. Free AVG is a great Antivirus and yes it is also free. It will check your e-mail coming and going. It will also let your friends now that the E-mail does not have a virus. It also has a spyware program that is free. This day and time with all of the spyware out on the net you can never have too many programs for spyware. I would not run all of them at the same time though. Make sure that you do not use your computer during any scan. Defrag is also something to do after you do everything else. Some people will tell you that should not reload your computer. If nothing seems to work then sometimes that is the only good way to get it repaired right. Most of the programs that come pre-installed on a store bought computer is useless and most are even trail software that causes problems when they expire. Let me know if this helps at all. Please rate me if it helps.

Toshiba laptop has black screen WITH BLUE password box how do i get past the box to get my laptop back/i've tried tons of different f keys and even took out the battery please help

If you did not set a password, first try by simply hitting enter (no words or characters in the box). If this does not work, restart the computer and press F11 or F12 to enter set up (only one or the other will bring you into setup). Once in setup, find where to set\change password. For "new" leave blank, and press enter. Delete anything that may be in this box. Do the same for the next box(es) for "re-enter" password; leaving the box blank and pressing enter. At the very end (right) of the screen, it should give a list of exit options (after selecting "reset" or "save" password; select "save changes and exit" option. The computer should restart automatically and bring you to either 1. The "blue" password screen, for which you will press enter. 2. The operating system Desktop, i.e. Windows etc. where all your icons and apps are displayed. If thus does not work, you need to reset the computer to its default (factory settings) which can be done following the same steps, and finding this option in the menus provided. I do not know what OS you have, but if it is Windows then the above is where to go.

Unable to find the recovery disk creator icon on

it is always better to make your own back up discs over using program to do it. try doing your backup to an external hard drive manually and it will save what you want and there is less risk of losing potentially vital information. to save a back up onto an external just right click on folder and click copy (mind you not all folders are transferable, such as program files) then open the external and paste the information there and you will have what you need.

Can't switch on a laptop

this may be too late for you, but I had the same problem with my old toshiba laptop. The support person I talked to had me take out the battery, leave the computer plugged in and push and hold the on button for 10 - or 15 seconds. She said it discharges something or other and to periodically run the computer without the battery. Sometimes my screen just goes blank on my new computer and this always fixes the problem.

Good luck.

Windows vista lare icons and text

In changing the icons to normal, did you reset the screen resolution? If not, set the resolution lower, apply, then reset it back to the original (usually 1024x768), then apply.

Cooling Fan Problems

Take a Look in your Control Panel, Go To Your POWER Settings..(click on the POWER icon).. Look there to see if you can change the settings to : Toshiba Power Saver, then set it to that, save and close, then Back in your Control Panel There should Be a Power Saver Icon.. Click on it and Set it to Long Life.. And Slide the slider from the CPU Cooling icon to Maximum Performance..
If you Do Not have these Settings in your Control Panel, then You can Simply Adjust the Power Settings To "Portable Laptop"
and tweak the settings to your liking.. Like "turn Hard drive off after 20 minutes.. etc..
