Bought non kodak cartridges and it won't work???

Kodak specifically recommends using genuine Kodak cartridges in their printers in their literature.
Please don't use generics in Kodak printers, is essentially what they say to do if malfunctions occur.

• Remove, then install the cartridges again.

Are you using Kodak cartridge? They have a chip that communicates with the printer. If non-Kodak ink cartridge, it may not work properly.

Black printing double ink


This is often a problem when using non-Kodak inks as the cheap after-market cartridges use dye instead of pigment inks. Replace the after-market cartridge with the proper Kodak pigment ink cartridge and the problem should go away. If you are using a Kodak cartridge, you may need to run your printer through the cleaning cycle a couple of times. Also, run the printer through the calibration cycle once.

the kodak system uses a countdown system that assumes you use a certain amount of ink re sheet regegardless of how much ink you accutualy use, the counter system starts everyt ime you turn the printer on, so the only way to extend the life of the ink is not to turn the printer off netween use, which the domestic useres do not of course do what i did throw the printer away and get a new one not Kodak sh*t

Have a Kodak all in one 5500...black cartridge went empty, replaced it with a non-Kodak cartridge, now it won't print black...changed back to real Kodak cartridge and problem remains....have cleaned...


I think the printhead is already defective since you tried using a non kodak ink the big difference is the viscosity of a non kodak ink is diff. w/ the original giving more load to the printhead and making it defective.

Not printing in color and black/white copy not clear, light in some places

to fix up such problem
Clean the printhead, then print and
  1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
  2. On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
  3. From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Printhead Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo + Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet
and you have to Replace ink cartridges.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you are using KODAK Ink Cartridges. Your KODAK All-in-One Printer is designed to work with KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of either non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to KODAK Ink Cartridges & Photo Value Packs.
  1. Lift the printer access door, then remove the ink cartridges from the printhead.
  2. Insert new KODAK ink cartridges into the printhead, then press down firmly until you hear the cartridges click into position.
  3. Close the printer access door, then make the same print.

Wont except aftermarket printer cartridge error code "not recognized"


May be the cartridge is not detected by Kodak printer. Kodak printer works with genuine Kodak cartridges and that too brand new not refilled cartridges.The brand new cartridges have a certain code that is recognised by the Printer.Kindly buy genuine cartridges as the printer may be damaged by Non comaptible cartridges.
