Ground wire idiot problem

I bought a Pioneer DEH-2000MP cd player for a 93 honda civic. Most of the wires matched up perfectly, no problem. But, I have a ground wire from the harness in the car (not attached to anything), and one from the cd player that says it needs to be grounded to the vehicle. Can I just connect the two black wires together or will that short something out?

It will not work with the cd player ground wire grounded to the vehicle.

Wiring A Pioneer DEH P6400

If the factory harness is still in tact, you can buy an adapter at Best Buy for about 20$ or ask to see one and write down the pins and wires then match it up and cut n splice to your new deck. Hope this helps

New Radio too powerful for 15 Watt speakers?

Hello mike_mccuske,

The OEM speakers will still work OK with your new Pioneer. Just don't turn it up too loud. Of course you'll get improved sound if you replace the speakers. Your Pioneer's RMS power is 14 watts, and the peak (maximum) power is 50 watts. The door speakers in a 2000 Honda Civic are 6.5" and you can get a set of Pioneer speakers, the TS-G1642R's, from Crutchfield for less than $50. Their RMS power range is 2-30 watts and they can handle a peak power of up to 180 watts.

Hope this helps.

Can't fit subwoofer amp leads to pioneer DEH-2000MP Head unit

pioneer head units only distribute like 200 rms or so to the speakers. you might have to find a blue maybe even blue with white striped wire and nick it just enough to tie your amp wire around it. tape it up and see if it works.

Connecting Pioneer DEH-2000MP to an amplifier

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

You would need a special adapter that connects to the speaker wires of the Pioneer DEH-2000MP and converts them to line level RCA ports. Something like the image below and available from here or most car stereo stores.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
