Question about Minka F603-WH Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

I have lost my instructions and cannot figure out how to replace the burned out light bulb in my Minka Aire F603 ceiling fan unit; I can't figure out how to get to the bulb - can't figure out how to get the light cover off and don't want to break it. Thanks, -Bill

Hi Bill. So far I have not been able to find a manual, but I will keep looking. In the mean time, if you want to give it a try, it appears to me that the circular piece that has the fingers that hold the light globe is probably put in place to hold the globe by a "turning" motion. If you were to reach up and grab this ring and gently turn it counter clock wise I bet it would turn perhaps 1-3 inches and disengage the fan body. Makes sense that the manufacturer would make it easy to change light bulbs and viewing the fan, this would be about the easiest way to do it. I would assume the glass globe is NOT fastened to this ring in any manner, so if you do decide to try this, be ready to have the glass globe release from the holding ring.
I will let you know when/if I find a manual. If you decide to try my solution and are satisfied with it, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up rating from you. BTW, nice fan. Paul

Thank you pwillitz; in the meantime, I did find the Manual to the F603 in pdf format at: http://minkagroup.net/Admin/UploadFiles/... It describes how to put bulbs in so it was simply a matter of reversing the instructions to get the old ones out - and your solution was correct. However, it is not that easy to get the bottom section off so one has to be careful or you will twist the whole unit instead of just the bottom part..... Thanks again, -Bill

Thanks Bill, I appreciate the feedback. Would you mind entering a Thumbs Up rating for my attempt to help you?
I'm glad the old brain is still able to function a bit.
I am going to look at the URL and see if I can learn something else.
    Thank you.

Okay, I take back the comment about the brain still working.
When I looked at the URL you provided, I knew I had seen it before.
Looking back through the solutions I provided previously, I found one where I had entered a URL that led to the same manual.
    It i a ***** to get old!

    Be well,
    Paul

    Paul,

I just realized you gave your name at the end of your suggestion - Sorry I kept calling you by your screen name...... Much nicer to be on a 1st-name basis! By the way, you actually helped 3 people here..... I had short-cut the original question to save time; the fan unit is actually my daughter's and I was unable to change the bulbs for her a month ago after they had tried and tried - they could not find their instructions; that's what gave me the impetus to go online and look for a solution. So, you have really solved a problem for she and her husband - and me - in the process.

    Thanks again, -Bill

Hey Bill, always nice to get good feedback. This work is a bit frustrating in that we are lucky if we get ratings or feedback from 8% of the people we offer solutions to.
In the event you lose the printed instructions you can get a copy at this URL:http://www.lightingdirect.com/mediabase/...

    Be well,
    Paul

Newly installed Minka aire concept II ceiling fan is poorly lit. Installed in my son's bedroom and it's useless, dim.

probably not the reason for the dim light. It probably has more to do with the installation where you have wired the light before or after the fan so that power so the bulb is reduced by the resistance in the fan.
lights and fans are wired in parallel so that one doesn't affect the other
Might pay to talk with an electrician on the issue
There is a limit on the size of the bulb that can be used and a 100 watt halogen bulb will probably melt the surrounds and set fire to the fitting

Minka Aire model f603 reverse switch?

Not sure what model of fan or manufacture you have. Says Hunter 52" & Minka aire F603. If it's the Minka , Then push the button on the lower part of the remote (6 o'clock). If that doesn't work then you might need a new receiver.

Minka Aire Como F603 - Light bulb burned out

I found the Manual to the F603 in pdf format at: http://minkagroup.net/Admin/UploadFiles/F603-English.pdf It describes how to put bulbs in so it was simply a matter of reversing the instructions to get the old ones out. However, it is not that easy to get the bottom section off so one has to be careful or you will twist the whole unit instead of just the bottom part..... I think what you did was push up too hard and then turn the whole unit. Try pushing up firmly but at the same time hold some fingers (or have someone help in this) on top of the bowl above the fan blades and then twist counterclockwise an inch or two and the bottom part will release (don't let it fall). Then you have easy access to the bulbs. Good luck.

This may not apply. There could be an electrical problem. But if you installed the bulb with your hand, the oil on your skin can cause the buld to heat excessively and fail. I suggest you use the packaging or part of it when installing it, taking great care not to touch it.
