Put dvd in and it makes clicking noise and doesn't detect it.

The Clicking sound happens, when the lens which reads the cd's,dvd's move off from its original position, this happens when the particular equipment is moved or pushed. In some rare cases, when you insert a very scratched cd, dvd. This can be solved by the particular tv company technicians, or else your warranty will be void.

Try checking whether the lens works perfectly, by playing different kinds of content ( audio cd, mp3, dvd ) etc... If any works, then your lens is working perfect. Later, try cleaning the lens using the " cd lens cleaner kit ". It will be available in any computer accessories related shop.

Thank You.

DVD-RW burn drive is being recognized as CD-rom drive; it's not the laser, because I went through the trouble of purchasing a brand new DVD burner drive and it's doing the same exact thing. Can anybody...

Hello,

If you have not done so, under device manager, remove the dvd rom (cd-rom) from the hardware list, Use the CD install disk that come with your DVD-ROM, install the drivers and software, then reboot your pc and let it install the new hardware detected. This should get you going.

DVD/CD-RW Drive

Try changing the power socket attached to your DVD drive with other available one, and restart your machine. If it is not yet shown in My Computer. try replacing the ribbon connector from motherboard to DVD Drive. If it is not yet shown in My Computer you try then to enter setup from start up to manually detect your DVD Drive. If you need to buy a new drive you can get it at any computer shop or at dell service center.

Cd/Dvd burner stopped working on my laptop

It could be that the burner has gone out in the drive, this is a common problem. Before you go and replace the drive, it could just be a simple driver glitch, try uninstalling the drivers for the CD drive from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the drive and reinstall the drivers. If this doesn't work then you can replace the drive.

Do not read the cd or dvd disc.

Two possibilities that are immediately apparent. One, the lens on the drive is dirty. Stop by a department store and buy a CD/DVD laser lens cleaner CD and put it in the drive several times, making sure that it tries to read it each time. This can brush away the debris on the lens and it may work again. Two, the drive motor or lens assembly (that moves) has failed. My experience is that these drives have a 2-3 year life span. Luckily, they are now bargain-priced and you can pick them up at your local discount store and replace them yourself.

Cd drive is not recognized

Hi, The problem of the CD drive missing (and sometimes the A drive likewise) has been known to come up from time to time when PCs were upgraded to SP2, on some Dell models, the InCD feature of Nero, or those with Roxio CD creator 5. A couple of things you can try: 1. Uninstall references to the CD in your Device Manager, reboot. Windows is suppose to autodetect and auto install such devices; 2. verify that the CD is detected in the CMOS/BIOS, save & exit; 4. download and merge to your registry a quickfix - 5. If installed, uninstall/remove InCD or Roxio CD creator 5. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
