My player is working fine but the screen is black, I think it may be a contrast setting problem but I cant see the screen so I dont know how to get to the settings and then to the brightness can anyone talk me thru to get to the settings?
Your LCD display screen has a bad backlight. You need to replace the display.
This can be done if you do it gently.
1. open halves of snap open case with thin, dull knife.
2. remove battery taped to metal shield, leave wires attached.
3. Remove 6 screws
4. note where display attaches to circuit board and flip over latch.
gently remove display and replace.
5. reassemble.
Press any button to see if the screen will light up. If it does not, then hold the power button in for 15 seconds. If that still fails:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Sorry about this.
Well, seeing it is a new tablet, either of two things can be done.
Your tab is booting beyond Startup but you ain't seeing it because of the contrast/black screen setting.
To confirm; step into a dark room/space and hold a flashlight very close to the screen, you'd see your tab is at its home screen already.
Anyway, you will have to default factory reset it as it is or you could attempt to navigate (while in the dark room/space and using/holding the flashlight) Swipe to open/unlock it----Settings----display and brighteness-----brightness----'move cursor up to increase brightness'. Done.
Second option with dark room/space is tedious and strenuous.
Factory/hard reset is an easy option to try.
At the same time, hold/press both the volume up key/button and the power button/key.
Follow the system prompt afterwards.
Or
Press/hold down the volume down button/key and the power button.
Follow the system prompt thereafter to factory/hard reset your tab.
I think your keys still work, but you need to adjust your contrast. To adjust the contrast by lightening the screen, press and release the "2nd" button and hold the down arrow. Reply back if this doesn't work. Hope this solution helps!
Sounds like you adjusted the contrast to 0. I did the same thing I used a flashlight to look at the screen while holding it at a angle. I was able to see the screen and was able to adjust the contrast back to where it should be. Gl and let us know if this worked.
hello, Was someone messing around with the Contrast settings? If so, the Contrast may be set so low that you can't see the information on the iPod's screen. The only way to reset your iPod back to the factory defaults (including the Contrast setting) is to let the battery drain all the way out. Do whatever it takes to let the battery die then let the iPod sit overnight to be safe. Then the next morning, charge the battery and turn the iPod on. The first thing you should see is a screen asking you to select your language. If you can see your screen now, congratulations, this did the trick. If not, you probably need a new screen.
i dont know but i would think using the screen from a different computer would not be good. im sorry but you will have to buy a new one. there is no way to make the fade stop.
this sounds like you have left the ipod in a hot car or in the sun too long, if so there is not a true fix for this problem. You can always take it in for a fix at an apple store.
