This problem will likely have to be solved at a local, trustworthy camera repair shop - or, at Nikon's factory service center, nearest you.

If the camera is still under warranty - repair by Nikon Factory Service will be free (assuming it wasn't abused) - and if serviced elsewhere while under warranty, will probably void the remaining balance of the warranty period.

Before doing anything, contact Nikon Tech Support:

Determine the warranty status of your D5000 and discuss service options, and obtain an RMA if you decide to return the camera to Nikon for factory service.

My Coolpix 4600 won't work with an SD card

once you insert the card you have to go into your menu and reformat the card. reformating will erase its contents so keep that in mind.

No card present

It needs a memory card. Usually an "SD" card.

Problem in reading memory cards of NIKON D80

Some notebooks cannot read SD capacities of 4GB and above. The workaround is to use an external SD card reader.

Nikon D80 no picture number in LED & menu not working

Format the SD cards with the camera. You might have to do a software upgrade on the camera since the Kodak card files are different than Nikons.

Sd card won't click into place on my Nikon d60

Check your SD card, there may be a piece of it missing. Did the same to my camera and looking into the card holder, there was a piece of SD card lying at th bottom! (I used a needle to dislodge it!)

SD memory prohibits functioning of Pentax E30

I know that usually, you should format the card for the camera that your going to use. Try formating it in the camera and see if that works. Let me know if I can do anything else for you,

Cant use 4gb sd card in my camera why?

The D50 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it will only work with devices specifically designed to accept SDHC cards. The D50 wasn't. It only works with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Camera won't accept an SD Memory Card anymore

Hello

If the card works in another camera or another card doesn't work in your camera , the problem is with your card reader in your camera.

If you open you sd slot and look inside with a sharp light , you should be able to see on the left side of the slot there is a little copper or spring steel lever switch. This switch work as follows:

1. When no card is inserted / no write protection , the switch is open and thus the protection is off.
2. When locked card is inserted , the tab is depressed and tells the camera that the card is lock.

Contrary to popular belief ,the little tab on the sd card is not an electronic switch and does not physically influence the card operation itself. If you put a locked card into a camera without a sd lock switch , you would still be able to use the card normally.

It is incredible difficult to fix this switch because of space limitations in the sd card. Look into the sd slot and if you can see the switch , use a needle to pull the little tab down toward the base of the camera by about 2mm or until it works being careful not to bend it.

If this does not resolve your problem , there might be a short in the switch circuit and the camera will need to be disassembled to resolve this error. This should cost no more than $50.

Please feel free to contact me if you need further information

Kind regards
Andrea
