You may have to restore your machine to Factory Settings. If you have files that you do not want to lose, you could try this... Pull the hard drive out, and use a "USB Hard Drive Adapter" to connect the hard drive to a friend's computer, and save all the personal files (documents, pictures, etc.) you can to a folder on the friend's computer or an external hard drive.
Then, you could try to do a Factory Restore on the computer, and if that works, copy your personal files back to your newly restored computer. See... http://community.sony.com/t5/VAIO-Software-Other-Operating/Restore-computer-to-factory-settings/td-p/27535

How do i restore a inspiron b130 to factory settings

Hello,

You may follow the below steps to perform a full factory restore:

Use an external hard drive to back up any important files on the computer as all of the data on the computer's hard drive will be erased during the restore process. Connect the hard drive to the computer via the USB cable and transfer any valuable photos, music, programs or documents into the hard drive's folder. Once all the files are copied into the folder, right-click on the hard drive's folder icon and choose "Eject."
  • Remove any other unnecessary hardware device cables connected to the computer as they maybe damaged when the computer is restored. Disconnect any scanners, USB drives, MP3 players, smart phones and the external hard drive.
  • Close any programs running on the computer and turn off the computer. Turn the power back on and hold down the "F8" key when the Dell logo appears on the screen to open the "Advanced Boot Options" screen. Make sure to complete this step before Windows loads.
  • Click on the "Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe options" icon. Select the language settings for the computer and click "Next." Check the box for "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition" and click on the "Next" button to begin the restore process. The computer will then erase the hard drive and restore the computer to the original factory condition. Press "Finish" to restart the computer with the factory settings restored.

  • Hope this helps..

Im trying to factory restore my vaio what does "do

It means do you want to change the default factory partition size (ie. the size of the C Drive). I suggest you select No because you may have a Restore partition on the hard drive and if you change the partition size you may wipe out this Restore partition and you will not be able to do any future factory restores.

Have re3stored acer aspire netbook to factory settings but restore does not complete due to error=0x3, how can i fix?

Probably means your factory restore is no good because it is created from a image that is either on cd's or the hard drive. Most times the restore does not work unless it is put on the hard drive by the manufacturer.

How do I reset factory settings on a compac cq60-615dx notebook

From your description, restoring the factory defaults will not fix the issue. you will likely need to replace the hard drive. However, to restore the factory settings, press f10 as the system is booting to bring up the recovery partition.

I restored my computer with a factory restore disc little did i know it was the original operating system now i have to restore it again with the original restore disc so question is will i have to change...

    Hello
No you do not have to change the hard drive.Seems if you did a factory restore from a disc the hard drive works fine.
You will however need to replace any programs or games or whatever you had. Also any files or documents are probably gone.
So consider your notebook like it was the day you bought it.

    How to factory rest

    • Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.
    • Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.
    • Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."
    • Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.
    • Restart the Toshiba laptop computer when the restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.
    • Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.
The hard disk drive restore utility is saved on a separate partition on the Toshiba laptop's hard drive. If that partition has been formatted you won't be able to use the restore utility. If you don't have the operating system recovery disc and the partition has been formatted, you will need to contact Toshiba's customer support to have them send you a new disc.

All of your existing data will be permanently removed from the hard drive when the factory restore process has finished running.

Restore factory settings on maxtor basics external storage 1000gb

What do you mean by factory settings. From the factory, the drive came just formatted with no data on it. If you want that then format the drive in WIndows. My Computer->Select the drive that is Maxtor, right click it and in the box that opens format is one of the options. Select and follow instructions.
