Make sure the switch on the thermostat is on heat.make the power to the heater is turned on.
if you can hear a click at the gas valve then it is stuck from sitting with out use.

Have a goodman gas pack and we lost power due to winter storm over night so now my unit is running but only cold air coming out

the pilot light runs from a very small gas jet and should not be affected by the power outage
however that is not to say that the jet may have frozen over and become blocked putting out the pilot light
AS the system needs power to drive the fan it is possible that without the fan and safety system working , the main gas supply solenoid would have shut down and that could have affected the pilot light
with the power reinstalled try lighting the pilot light
I would say that there would be a pizo starter on the front of the unit to light the pilot loght

It wont heat

never heard of having a pilot light as well an ignitor, the two don't go together. If your have a pilot light that is on the unit is getting gas. If there is pilot light there is usually a knob to switch between pilot light, off, and active on. maybe set to pilot light only.

New blue flame heater, everything is hooked up, gas is going to unit, I have a natural gas hookup, in the correct port, knob is turned and locked into the NG position but unit wont light. There is gas...

do you have the pilot light burning if not then you have to get in burning first
Put knob in pilot position push down and hold for at least 30 seconds or longer then if there is an igniter push and release it push and release till pilot light comes on .Continue to hold pilot light button down for another 10 seconds or so, release pilot button and turn button to on or up a number or set T stat
Main flame should come on and burn

Trying to light a new gas dryer. was unaware it was gas lol

Gas appliances normally require a pilot flame. This flame heats a thermocouple which operates the main gas valve when you want heat. The pilot flame may be out. Gas valves have a start-up process which normally requires you to press and hold the pilot flame button for up to 30 seconds (until the thermocouple heats up).
Your appliance will have been delivered with a user's guide in which you will find the pilot lighting procedure...OR...there may be a guide adjacent to the gas valve.

I can smell gas but heater will not ignite. Display shows that the heat is on. Thanks!

First of all, be careful while looking into the system when the gas comes on because it could unexpectedly ignite and burn you.

You listed this question in the Jandy Lite 2 Natural Gas Pilot Light Heater. If your heater is a pilot light heater then the pilot light needs to be lit so when the gas comes on it will ignite.

If your unit contains a thermal ignitor it should glow brightly when the gas starts. If it is glowing then it is probably not glowing brightly enough or not in the right place and therefore needs to be either replaced or repositioned. If it is not glowing then you should measure the voltage using a volt/ohm meter going to the ignitor. If it reads about 115 VAC then the ignitor is broken and needs to be replaced. If it reads much lower voltage then the board that supplies power to it probably has a problem on it. It may be a defective relay, bad solder joint or some other problem. I would first re-solder the relay connections to the board and see if that fixes it. Otherwise the board will need to be replaced.

If the unit has a spark ignitor and you hear a spark sound it may be too low power or the spark probe might be in the wrong place and therefore not delivering the spark to the fuel air mixture. If you don't hear the spark then you may have a bad relay or bad solder joint to it.

Please let me know how this works out. Thank you.

Hi. i have a vermont castings radiance stove, RDV40. the pilot light went out and won't reignite. yes, the gas is on. i've followed the manual -- turning the control knob to pilot and pressing the ignition...

check to make sure your pilot orfice is not clogged it will be located at the end of the small tube coming from your gas control valve if its not then while you are trying to light the pilot tap the side of the gas valve (sometims somewhat hard) if it then lights you know you have a bad gas valve

Light pilot on Royal deep fryer. Pilot will not stay lit. Second fryer has larger pilot have no trouble keeping it lit. How can I adjust the pilot so that it will stay lit?

there is a small adjustment screw on the gas valve, turn it clockwise to increase pilot,if that does not work the vent cap on the gas regulator on the back of the unit could be stopped up,remove that cap ,clean out or replace unit can operate without it just fine.If you increase the pilot and it still wont stay lit replace the thermocouple

I HAVE A VERMONT CASTINGS RADIANCE HEATER MY PILOT LIGHT WONT STAY LIT I HEAR THE THERMOCOUPLER TRIP THE VALVE BUT THE FLAME WILL GO OUT

We had this problem and struggled with it for over a year. We finally hired someone to come in and service the stove he cleaned everything and blew a piece of crud from the pilot line. NO Problem for 2 years since.
He told me the pilot light should look strong pointed like a pencil not curved up like a candle. He removed the pilot and disassembleed the line and used compressed air.

Gas wall heater won't light

You need to bled the line longer and when you get lited hold down for a good minute. When the gas gave out ,there could trash in the line.I would take the line off and blow gas through it undtil you can smell it.
