My phillips 52" flatscreen makes a clicking sound by the on/off switch. Sometimes the TV will go off and come back on by itself, not due to a lost of signal.

42C128135UA-52 Phillips Flat Screen TV. I switched it on and all i got was a clicking sound and flashing green LED light which continues 1 long flash 2 short flashes. No picture whatsoever.

On the lower right side of the psu, (clamped to a heatsink), i changed the 8.5v (L4940P85) voltage regulator and it worked. As a test to single out the fault i warmed this component with a fine blue flame, this would make also make the tv work perfectly.

Phillips 47" flatscreen sounds still

If the TV menu displays your problem is most likely not the Tv , but is caused by the signal source:
Cable box or connections. Reboot everything test using other sources like a DVD player to isolate the problem.

My 19 inch Phillips Flatscreen has somehow switched to MONO and I can't get it off so the TV will play.

Try pushing the INFO or the DISPLAY button on the remote until it reads DISPLAY OFF.

Good luck and post back to let us know how you make out.

Sometimes the TV will not turn off, sometimes it won't turn on. It has also flipped through all picture formats (zoom, stretch, standard) on its own, had 1/2 the picture blank, and has randomly turned the...

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

My tv turns off by itself and makes a clicking noise

Most likely it has some bad capacitors in the power supply. Flat--panel sets are VERY hard on capacitors, due to the fact that the "rising heat' from the set "cooks" the caps and they fail VERY early.
