The problem is probably not the battery pack or charger. I had the same problem and it is in the electronic over current circuit that prevents a possible overheating of the battery pack. My unit will run for 10 - 15 seconds and then shuts off. The over current sensor is reset by moving the power switch to the "OFF" position. If you turn the vacuum back on it will run for a few more seconds before shutting off again. There is a small circuit board in the vacuum that contains the over current protection circuit. It uses an NXP Semiconductor HEF4001BP quad 2-input NOR gate. If you are good at soldering you might try replacing this chip. Otherwise, buy a new vacuum. The problem is not in the thermal circuit breaker located in the handle. I have bypassed the breaker and the problem still occurs.

Take the battery apart and then replace the individual cells. I'm going to try using Nickel Metal batteries on mine. i'll let you know how it works out.

SOURCE: I have a oreck xl2 and while vacuuming the vacuum

sounds like a bad motor. if the light is on at the switch and the motor doesn't run, then it could definitely a motor problem, worn down or dirty carbon brushes. the motor on these machines are not the best built, they require cleaning of the commutator yearly.

Do you keep the Dyson DC44 plugged into charger all the time?

I don't keep mine plugged in, but that's because I haven't mounted the charger on the wall. I think rechargeable batteries are smart enough nowadays to allow for an appliance to be constantly plugged in.

Why does roomba keep docking?

It needs to recharge every time it docks.

I would suggest that you let Roomba run out of the room where it's charger is. Then force it to run until it dies out. Then put it back onto it's charger.. I suspect that it's developed a memory (short) for charging and you need to force it to totally drain down, then charge for a good while. This should force it to develop a "Longer" memory. Works for me anyway.

Light says its charging but it wont turn on

Hi there,

Well first of all you may check that the charger (adapter) is working or not, you may use a volt meter to check it out or use another charger to make sure....... further you may follow the step below -
1. Remove the battery pack from Vacuum.
2. Hold down the power button for five seconds.
3. Reinstall the battery to reset the system.
4. Plug the Charger directly into vacuum.
5. Charge the battery untill the power light is solid green again and keep the vacuum on the charger for an additional 72 hours (3 days). Important: Do NOT interrupt this charging cycle.
If further you have the same problem it means it's time to change the old battery with new one.

Good Luck!!

If it seems to be taking a charge, then the charger and the battries are ok and the problem is with the indicator light. So if it is working normally, I wouldn't worry about that light.
