No - if it would have been the cooling fan the bulb would have been shut down. It's much more likely that the problem is in the power source - as it heats up a bad contact fails. You will gonna have to check every soldering and redo all the ones that look or feel suspicious.

Model WD-65734. Why is there no picture?

Never heard of a color wheel needing to be replaced. Both cooling fans need to be clean and turn easily. Color wheel fan needs to turn easily. If any one of these motors does not turn, the controller will cause a shut-down. The Xenon lamp uses high voltage to operate. If the power supply was damaged, the lamp won't light. The sparking on the ballast board indicates that dirt or dust may be causing the problem. Also, the clamping diodes and regulator may be defective. If possible, try replacing the lamp power board. Regards.

Hello, I have a Samsung HLP4663W 46 in. Rear Projection HDTV Television, and they lamp kept going out so I bought the proper lamp to replace it and it still would not show a picture. Should I pay to have...

Recheck the tv projection lamp installation?Recheck the lamp door latch, see if it is proper closed and tightly closed of the lamp door?Hear any clicking noises, when the tv projection lamp tries to ignite up.If hearing constance clicking?Mean the tv board that call the Ballast board it is also dead, this Ballast board only job are to ignite the tv projection lamp only.Ballast board must have be replaced. If the tv have a colors wheel is it dead or damage and broken require changing,u will hear major humming, motor or grinding sound noises and alot of times the tv pictures flashes multiples colors on the tv screen or the tv pictures will have a black&white flashes of a background of white light within the tv pictures background.Selling defective tvs almost impossible to sell it for a decent or a good priced or it at all.If this tv u have less than 5 years old,tv it is still have alot of it life ahead of it,tv tube picture screen panel, will last u atleast another 10 years and have to be 8 hours tv whatching every day to dies this faster or could be last to 15 years,if tv less hours of watching every day.Should get priced quotes from many tvs repair shops and get it fixed max prices about $400-$500 dollars.New tv same model and sized or difference models too will cost u like $1,200-$1,500 dollars.

I have a Samsung HLP4663wx xaa that I just replaced the color wheel to fix the buzzing noise and then had to replace the lamp after 16541 hours so definately got my moneys worth. Had to remove the jumper...

I would assume you need to replace that ballast. Usually the bulbs out live the bulb's ballast (from previous experience)...I've seen DLPS do this type of thing when the bulbs are slow to turn on due to a new ballast being needed.

Thanks and hope it helps!

Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

We own a Samsung DLP-TV. Last night it started shutting itself off. WE changed the lamp, but it is still shutting itself off after a minute. First, the picture goes off black, then the entire TV shuts off....

Do you still have your old lamp? try to see if it still works.. i think the problem could be something with your Ballast or maybe the color wheel.

Does your TV makes a strange sound? if it does maybe one of those 2 ballast or color wheel.

LETS TRY THIS....... MAYBE IT WILL WORK.

the Door lamp switch could be faulty, you've got to check it need to close fine with out the switch to go down

here is a picture that i found it looks like this!

My Samsung DLP model HL-P6163W keeps turning on and off and now lights are flashing. We replaced the color wheel last year and about two years ago the lamp.

could still be the lamp but it could also be the Ballast for the lamp has failed. I've replaced a lot of Ballasts on DLP machines.

Loud buzzing sound

Hello Jack,

That buzzing might be two things. It could be the color wheel or the ballast for the bulb. To check this you will have to move the projection section of the TV out of the case and listen for the sound in the area of the color wheel and the ballast. Try removing the color wheel power to see if the buzzing stops if it does then it's the color wheel is not and the ballast is buzzing then It's the ballast, and it will need replacing or if you know electronics you could try fixing the old ballast (I would suggest getting a new ballast).

Better still if you are uncomfortable working on the set you could get a qualified TV repair person to repair your TV .

I hope this helps,
Thank you,
