The front speakers go into the sub in the two bottom inputs from the receiver. the two upper are outputs to the actual speakers,SOYOU RUN RUN THE FRONT SPEAKER WIRES FROM THE RECEIVER TO THE INPUT OR LOWER CLIPS ON SUB,THEN RUN WIRES FROM THE OUTPUT OR UPPER CLIPS FROM SUB TO THE FRONT SPEAKERS.

I just bought an Onkyo HTP-693 and hooked it up exactly how its shown in the owner's manual. When the system tests the speakers, it doesn't detect the front right. Any suggestions?

Hi Quintin, I would suggest that you disconnect your speaker and reconnect it making sure that the speakers connection is correctly made. If so try swapping the right and the left to see if its the speaker that is causing the problem. You can email me at askOnkyo@us.onkyo.com, Thanks, JT

On my Sansui sw-100 sub, I have 2 speakers connected to the high level output, that dont operate

Yes in order to have audio going to your spare speakers from the sub .You would need to use the hi level inputs comming from the reciever outputs connected to these hi level inputs..The sub will then crossover the audio to their proper outputs..Hope this helps you

I just bought a subwoofer and I cannot get it to work. I changed the receiver setting to SW = YES. Where is the correct place to plug it in the receiver, there are two subwoofer outlets.

Here's your manual. Check Pg. 9 for correct Sub Woofer connection. Leave the SW=YES setting as is if you any small speakers in the system. It can be set to SW=PLUS if you want all bass signals sent to the Sub Woofer. It should only be set to SW=NO if no Sub Woofer is connected. Experiment between the YES and PLUS settings and leave it where it sounds best to you.

If this was helpful, please rate it "4 thumbs up" - thanks & good luck!

I was given a Jamo sub 1810, but have no instruction manual. I'm trying to hook up to my Pioneer HTP-2500 home theater system. What would be the correct way? Also if you could help me with the setup,...

Find it here...

The Jamo is self-amplified and accepts Line Level input ONLY.

The HTP-2500 receiver drives a subwoofer directly with SPEAKER LEVEL output only and does not have a volume-controlled output for driving externally-amplified devices.

Hi I have just got a JBL SCS200.5 BK, 5.1 loud speaker system. I am having the following problem with connecting the loudspeaker system. 1. I have a satellite TV reciever with a single Left, Right &...

I guess you didn't get the owner's manual, huh?

http://www.jbl.com/HI-IN/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?PID=SCS200.5BK/230

Where are the amplifiers in this scenario?

Page 8: The sub needs a subwoofer Line Level pre-out from an AV Receiver or multichannel processor. Though not elaborated on in the manual, the L and R Line Level RCA connections are probably for use if you lack a Sub Out feed. Running L and R from your receiver would allow the sub to derive a Sub Channel.

The rest of the speakers would connect to the AVR's speaker outputs.

Pasge 9: Alternate method if your eelctronics lacks a volume-controlled sub pre-out. This method routes only the front speaker level power to the sub so it can extract something resembling an LFE channel, then it routes speaker wire out to the front speakers, not as an audio power source but simply as a pathway.

You still need amplifier channels for all but the sub.

I have the VSX-1019AH-k Pioneer receiver and i want to increase the bass. When i go to setup for the speakers the SW option is grayed out so i can't put it to plus. Help?

I'm referencing a VSX-1016 manual, so I hope it's close enough to help you find the function...

Somewhere in the System Setup menu you'll find a setting for SUB W. The wrong setting is NO.

Set it to YES or PLUS depending on if you want ONLY the Sub to carry all the bass, or if the Front Speakers will share bass with the Sub, respectively.

Pioneer GM5300T-760amp w/bridgeable

It sound like the Amp is trying to protect itself:

From the manual:
"To prevent malfunction of the amplifier and
speakers, the protective circuit will cut the power
supply to the amplifier (sound will stop) when an
abnormal condition occurs. In such a case, switch
the power to the system OFF and check the
connection of the power supply and speakers."

Although I'm leaning toward the speaker config, double check the obvious first.
  • power cables - both positive and ground heavy enough gauge?
  • speaker cables
  • solid connections, crimps
The next check is the speakers themselves. More info needed.

How many? 1, 2, 4?

Are they 8 Ohms? 4 Ohms?

How are they wired?
  • One to a channel?
  • Series?
  • Parallel?
  • Bridged?
In case you don't have one, here's a link to the
GM-5300t Owners Manual

If you still have problems, get back to me with speaker specs and configuration.

Hope this helps

Sw 300 powered sub woofer

It sounds like your subwoofer acts as a receiver in its own right. Many low-budget home theater systems act this way, and it may in fact have a Dolby Pro Logic II encoder in it. Your best bet is to hook up either the speakers it came with, or purchase speakers from your local audio visual store. Check its power rating per speaker (in watts) in your manual, and purchase speakers that are rated for it.

The "red and white" input you mention are RCA connectors, and should allow you to connect a source to your system. If you have any more specific questions, please post them here.
