Question about Dishwashers

How do I remove the soap dispenser from a GE Profile PDW7980N dishwasher. The reservoir is leaking. I have taken the panel apart, but the reservoir is held on by a ring that the cap screws into. Does the ring screw off or pop off?

The last advice did not answer my question. I have a GE Profile dishwasher, PDW7980N that has a "Smart Dispenser" soap dispenser. Not the one with the little flip lid (although it has that too, but it's not the problem), but one you unscrew a cap, fill it up with soap and you don't have to add soap each time you wash. Mine is leaking soap inside the front door cavity and I believe the reseviour is cracked. The only thing holding the reseviour in place is the threaded ring that you screw the dispenser cap onto. I need to know how to remove that ring. Is it threaded on as well? Does it snap off?

Hi.

To remove the smart dispenser, remove the door panel first.

Unless needed, becareful NOT to remove the set of 4 screws (2 per side) holding the escutcheon to the door assembly. These screws are removed only in case you need to gain access to the control module, active vent, ? apper, and door interlock switch. Screws indicated below should not need removat to access the dispenser assembly:

Insert a small ?at tipped screwdriver into the slot in the side of the retaining collar and turn the screwdriver handle counterclockwise while turning the reservoir access collar counterclockwise a quarter turn. Why does it keep dispensing soap?

What do you mean "keep dispensing soap"? Is this a GE dishwasher with an automatic soap dispenser? Or do you mean that the soap lid won't latch or stay closed? Or are you talking about the rinse-aid dispenser leaking rinse-aid (which is fairly common)?

Ge potscrubber 700 dishwasher - the soap dispenser cover is locked and will not open. I have run the dishwasher several times and tried to force it but it will not budge. any suggestions?

Soap dispenser cover will not open until front knob is at 4:30 or 5 o'clock. Turn knob to 5 o'clock and jiggle dispenser cover. If cover still does not open, is detergent caked such that door won't open? If yes, remove caked detergent. If no, disconnect power at breaker. GE repair manual says to remove screws for inner door panel and inspect detergent dispenser mechanism with lever and trip lever for broken or binding parts.

The smart soap dispenser on my GE profile dishwasher is not dispensing soap. I filled the smart dispenser several months ago and it does not appear that any of the soap was dispensed. how do i resolve?...

We mistakenly switched liquid detergents and mixed enzyme based and bleach based. They gelled in the dispenser. I took the outer door cover off and could not figure out how to take the white plastic despenser off of the main door without breaking it. I disconected the electrical harness and took the main door off the hinges so I could take it outside, turn it upside down and use the garden hose pressure nozzle to blast the gellout of the white plastic dispenser. I use a piece of plastic coat hanger to poke around inside to break up the gell several times. It all came out in marble size pieces.

I put liquid dishwashing soap IN THE RINSE AGENT DISPENSER. What can I do?

I suggest purchasing a pipette (long thin flexible plastic eyedropper thing) from hobby lobby, Frye's, or from a scientific lab supply.
Draw up as much a you can from inside. Apart from that unless you remove the panels from the door to access the reservoir, then it may take several more washes to remove the soap from the the rinse additive dispenser. One more thing, you could start the machine in the rinse mode to wash the dishes and stop it when done and restart in the wash mode to rinse. When that is finished, stop and restart in the drying cycle. Good Luck!

Check the reservoir hose , and unclog it if necessary. You may need to disassemble the reservoir/dispenser to solve the problem.

My GE Profile Dishwasher PDW7880 Soap dispenser does not empty

I had the same problem. After some investigation I found that the hose that brings water to the top arm was clogged. There was a piece of chipped china logged in there. I have no idea how it got there as it is at the top and facing the the back wall but once I managed to take it off it solved the problem.

The part called a Wax Motor (about 2 inches) inside the door is responsible for opening your dispenser.Check it / replace it.
