That is very strange, and when it eventually turns on it comes on without issue and can stay on? Sounds like some major issue in the TV for sure, but that is very strange that it eventually works... apparently without issue when it does?

That did not answer the question. Anyone else run into this problem ? The TV turns on and works great but not until You turn it on multiple times for about a half hour during which you get a loud snap sound every time it shuts itself off .It seemed to start happening when it was colder in the room.

By the highly technical manner in which you set forth the problem, I can see you are far more electronically savy than am I, BUT just a thought: Is there there any sort of timer setting in the TV menu which may be cutting it on and/or off, and which you have somehow failed to notice? Good luck. . .

My 42HDS69 Hitachi has a recurring problem of not turning on. I unplug from outlet for awhile and sometimes it will turn after I plug in outlet, Other times it takes a few hours for TV to turn back on. ...

MY TV KEPT GETTING WORSE EACH DAY ALSO. BUY A CAN OF SPRAY AIR WITH THE EXTENSION SPRAY TUBE. WHEN YOU GET THE TV RUNNING SPRAY THROUGH THE HOLES IN THE BACK RIGHT ONTO THE FAN BLADES OF BOTH FANS. THE DUST WILL FLY OFF THE BLADES. A VACUMM HOSE WILL HELP PULL OUT THE DUST. ALSO SRAY THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD FOR DUST. I APPEARS THE FANS SLOW DOWN WITH DIRT ON THEM AND THE EXTRA HEAT BUILD UP JUST AFTER THE TV IS SHUT DOWN IS CAUSING THE POWER SUPPLY TO BE IN A SHUT DOWN MODE WHEN POWERED UP THE NEXT TIME. BEEN TWO WEEKS NOW AND WORKS PERFECTLY NOW AGAIN.

LG Plasma 2 years old just started turning off and on

You will need to replace the mainboard, you only need to be sure your cable box is connected to the TV using ONLY one cable because if you use HDMI and another cable (ie. HDMI and COMPONENT) could show that sympton.

First try unpluggin everything from the TV and try to turn it on, if you continue with the trouble then you can be sure you need to replace the mainboard.
