Question about Adesso Cybertablet Z12 (CTZ12A)

1 Answer

Are my settings wrong? I have an Adesso Z12 tablet. I use the pen as a brush with Photoshop. Once I have established where the pen is on my monitor, I can make single line changes to photos. However, once I lift the pen off the tablet, I have no idea where it will set down again on the picture. The "brush" does not move with my hand when not in complete contact with the pad. Making one sweeping movement does not work if I want to make several small strokes to enhance a photo. Not knowing where the pen is going to set down on the picture means that I make unnecessary errors, like strokes where they don't belong. Did I miss something when setting this up? I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. several times. Nancy

That's interesting because I had another Adesso that DID work like a mouse. Currently I own 2 Z12s. One says VISTA on it. The other says Windows XP. I have Windows XP on my computer and interestingly enough, at one time the VISTA tablet pen worked as a mouse! I have no idea how I managed that. Unfortunately, I can't seem to do it again. This is why I thought a setting was off.

Hello, thanks for using FixYa.

That is completely normal, you haven't gotten used to using the pad. I was just looking at a review of the pad and the author writes

" The tablet worked well. It took me some time to get used to how a tablet functions as it is very different from a mouse. When I picked up the stylus from the tablet, and moved it to the right or left, and placed it back down, it was though I was drawing on a paper, and so the drawing would start in a new area, rather than where I "left" the mouse cursor. There was also a disconnect for me, as I continued to look down at my position, only to not have any real information without looking at what I was doing on the screen. I think this would change after some use, but for me, it was a strange feeling."

There is a toggle button on the pen that allows you to stop it from drawing. You can read the review here http://www.forevergeek.com/2009/07/adesso_cybertablet_z12_review/

So it seems the tablet is working normally, but it is not a mouse. It will take you some time to get used to it. The program might have settings that you can adjust that might help or make it easier to use. But don't expect too much. It will take time to master the tablet.

I'll do some checking, in that case... and get back to you soon.

Try updating to the latest drivers that are available at http://www.adesso.com/en/support/techica...

There is also a small manual with the driver download. They did not bother to go into full detail of all the settings in the program but I did see a tab called Mouse. Possibly some settings might be in there that could possibly get it working in the way you had it last time.

Pen pressure problem with illustrator

Is there anybody here who is familiar with the Adesso Cybertablet 8600?

First I'll say that despite Adesso being a cheap brand, my tablet has worked great for me for the past two years and I am happy with it. However, I cannot get the tablet's pressure sensitivity to work well in Illustrator CS2. When I go to the brush options, the pressure feature is off. Has anybody else experienced and/or conquered this problem?
Thanks

G-Pen F610 versus Photoshop 7

I believe I understand what you are referring to. I can reproduce this same effect in Photoshop 6. The settings for tweaking this and other options like opacity is under the "BRUSH DYNAMICS" button for the particular brush. The default seems to have SIZE set to be managed by the STYLUS pressure. If this is changed to OFF, the size will remain constant, and you can use stylus pressure to change another dynamic. Hope this is of some help.
