Question about Canon PowerShot SD750 / IXUS 75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I am having a problem with my sd750. When I turn it on, it runs fins but the lens only opens half way. I can cycle it on and off and it doesn't work properly. It seems something with the zoom lens and/or lens area. If I switch to lcd it operates fine but going back to camera mode it shuts off.

Dear sir,

this happens when the clearance for the lense mechanism to open and close is being insufficient due to -small bits of sand or lint that may become get trapped in the mechanism which is commom while taking photos in open dust spaces.

It is advised to take the camera to a camera repair shop and have it disassembled and cleaned,if delayed the problem gets complicated....

thank you..take care....

Hello I have a Canon SD750. The Camera turns on, but the lcd is black and if I take a picture nother shows up. Please help. I have not had it for long. Thanks.

Melinda, A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

On my SD750 Canon camera, getting following message. Lens error restart camera SD750 It worked for quite a while after I dropped it. How do I 'restart' my camera?

Camera will need to be repaired. The best deal to get the Powershots fixed is at this site: www.camerasandparts.com All they do is service Canon Powershots only and the work with them is top-notch. They're about half the cost of what Canon charges and they include parts, labor and shipping back, plus they do the service for the camera included. Hope that helps, they're the place if you need a hand with a broken Canon.

I dropped my Canon PowerShot SD750. the lens comes out half way

Sorry, but there is no DIY fix for the lens problem, and any attempts at homebrew repair will likely worsen the problem. The camera needs professional repair, so I suggest that you take it to a camera shop (not the camera department at a large store) or contact Canon customer service via the Canon.com web site. Be sure to get a firm price before committing to repairs -- the cost to fix it may be close to the price of a new camera, and repairs typically only carry a 30-day warranty.

My sd750 will not start up

Does the lens cover move when you do this? If it doesn't, it sounds like that might be the problem.

Canon camera when turned on, lens will not

Hi

What you are seeing is a generic error message, starting your camera again won't do anything unfortunately.

You need to replace the lens, we have your lens repair available on our site for about $75! If we can help please let us know.

Barrel and lens cover of the canon sd750 don't open completely.

Hi

Sounds like it's dirty or the springs have been dislodged. You can tear it apart yourself and see if you can rebuild it, or send it to us and we can fix it for about $40!

Don't bother with a store, they will tell you it needs a new lens for $175! Go ask, you will see.

If we can help, let us know.

I can't turn my camera on????

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:
