Most common problem is seals not fitting all round, allowing an air leak into the fridge, also if you have a drain hole inside at the back, check its not blocked......

GE 17.2 freezer on top fridge on bottom. Freezer is cold, but fridge is warm. Help!

Is there any frost buildup on the rear panel inside the freezer? If so you have a defrost problem of a bad defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost timer/ control board. If no frost then you probably have a clogged defrost drain. Remove the rear panel to access drain hole.

The freezer side is very cold but in the refrigerator not much cold.

Check evaporator fan inside the freezer
Check condensor fan underneath in back
Check for ice buildup in the evaporator coils (Defrost Problem.)
Also ice and/or frost on the back wall of freezer (defrost problem)
Check air vent for ice block from freezer to refrigerator inside the fridge.
Should have low air volume to fridge from freezer.

It's too cold in the top freezer, yet not cold at all elsewhere

if your freezer is cold but your fridg isn't then you have a defrosting problem. behind the back wall of your freezer you will probably find a very large mass of ice. unplug your ref and using hot water melt the ice. you will need several large towels for this since it will make a mess. once the ice is cleared if you have an ohm meter you can check the defrost element you are looking for continuity( closed circiut) if that tests ok find the defrost termintor(also called a bi-metal defrost) it is about the size of a quarter and is usually located in the top left side of the freezer. It will be clipped to one of the tubes. if it looks like it has popped then it is bad. If the bi-metal looks ok you will need to hook the element back up and go to the control panel in the fridge. looking up at it you will see a small hole and a gear inside that you can turn with a slotted screwdriver. turn it until you hear it click and the fans stop running. if the defrost heater comes on then change the defrost timer(the part you just turned)

your damper door is frozen or iced up and not opening up to let cold air in from freezer compartment, defrost it and make sure its dry, also check your door seal to make sure its sealing good and not letting in warm air that can condense and freeze things like the damper door

FREEZER SIDE TOO MUCH ICE FRIDGE SIDE NOT TOO COLD

If it has ice buildup on the back wall inside the freezer, it appears to have a defrost problem. Unplug it, put your food in another unit (or ice chests), open the freezer door and let it thaw out overnight for at least 12 hours or more, or until all the ice has melted from *behind* the back wall. Then close the doors and run it for 4 hours and check to see if the fresh food side is cold. If it is, call a repairman to fix the defrost problem. That could be a burned out heater, terminator, or defrost timer depending on your exact model.

Freezer section not freezing

If you only had ice buildup in one section of the evaporator you have a weak/inefficient compressor.
You need a new compressor or a new refrigerator.

Fridge not cold - freezer fine

ice buildup will most likely block the air flow.
if so the air will not be able to enter fridge section. Check air vent in fridge side if you can hear the fan and get no air flow then its blocked - common defrost thermostat failure.

to temporarily clear the problem just use a hair dryer on the ice build up area
