Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

INK SYSTEM FAILURE Ink system has failed. Unable to copy, receive faxes or print. Refer to printer documentation. error: 0xc19a0013 Press OK This is the error in which I am receiving and I need to know if there is anything I can do to solve this error. The printer scans (in color just fine) and prints (only in green and blue) One second it will say I need to replace pink and another second it will say I need to replace powder blue and dark blue. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried the info you gave to Christina for Ink System Failure ... It worked!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You saved me from buying a new printer!!! I was recieving a fax that printed fine and then all of a sudden I get a messege telling me that- ink system failure. 0xc18a0201 I did what it said in the on line repair. unplugged and took all ink out and turned off. waited than plugged it back in and after it asked for the ink. reinstalled it. but it is giving the same code and will not print. I have been able to send faxes but not recieve since it won't print. any ideas guys. Carol

    All you need to do is reset the printer and after that remove the existing driver and download the latest driver software and that should take care of the issue.

I found a solution to this problem on another site and am posting the main part of it here:

Christina: Let us perform some steps to isolate the issue and find a fix for it.
Christina: Please perform the following steps and let me know the message that will be displayed on the printer.
Christina: A. - Press and hold the “*” key.
B. - Press the “#” key and release both keys.
Display should say “Enter Special Key Combo”
C. - Press and release in sequence the “1”, “2” and “3” buttons.
CustomerName: ok
CustomerName: screen says "support" R0631M
Christina: Fine.
Christina: 2. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says “System Configuration Menu”.
Christina: 3. Press and release the “OK” button.
Christina: 4. Display should say “Hardware failure status”. If not there already, Arrow Key over to “Hardware failure status”,
Christina: 5. Press and release the “OK” button.
Christina: 6. Display should say “Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear”.
CustomerName: yup
Christina: 7. Press and release the “OK” Button. Message changes to “Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue”.
CustomerName: ok
Christina: 8. Press and release the “CANCEL” button as many times as necessary, so that, either the “Welcome to Photosmart Express” screen appears, or, the “Ink System Failure” screen appears. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE.
CustomerName: ok
Christina: 9. Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.
CustomerName: done
Christina: Fine.
Christina: 10. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer
CustomerName: done
Christina: 11. Turn the unit on. The printer may display message “USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER” followed by “PRESS OK TO CONTINUE”. Press OK. The Printer will start the “ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS”. Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.
CustomerName: made a buncha noise, and it didn't print a diagnostic page
Christina: Good.
Christina: Is the error message still being displayed on the printer?
CustomerName: nope
Christina: Good.
CustomerName: should I try to print something?
Christina: Let us print a self test page to check the functionality of the printer.
Christina: Press Setup menu on the All-in-One then scroll using the arrow key and select Print Report then select Self Test Report.

Try the following reset:

Hold the OK and the Help button at the same time. While holding them down, plug the power in. Continue to hold both buttons until the unit shut off.
After shutting down, release both buttons and power on the printer.

Alternatively follow instructions on this document from HP.

The Ink waste tank filters are usually change by a technician or the counter can be turned back. The ink waste tank is found at the base of the printer

SOURCE: Ink system failure

Open the printer as if to replace an ink cartridge. On the print head there is a black plastic arm about 2 inches long. Re-connect this with the white cog wheel so that the protruding part is in the center of the black arm. Close lid, power on and job done.

I have a Ink System Failure.


IssueAn 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The printer cannot copy, receive faxes, or print. Solution
Press the On button to turn the printer off. 
Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
Remove all the ink cartridges.
Wait two minutes.
Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
Press the On button to turn the printer on. 
Install the ink cartridges when prompted.
If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved.
If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer.

Ink system has failed


IssueAn 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The printer cannot copy, receive faxes, or print. 
Solution
Press the On button to turn the printer off. 
Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
Remove all the ink cartridges.
