Question about Acer XD1170D Projector

Open Question

I connect my laptop to the Acer XD1170d DLP projector via VGA or USB but it doesn't connect. I tried with a DVD player, and the problem is the same. on the screen it shows a padlock with D-Sub. I have been using this projector for two (2) years now and haven't experienced this problem before. The most frustrating part of the story is that I have lost the user's Manual/Guide. I want to know what to do to get the projector connecting again. I'll gladly appreciate your support. Best regards, Ben King-Bunor

SOURCE: Picture distortion

Hi!

That S-video cable...if it is longer than 1 meter you will get a poor picture. Get an component cable and connect your players thru that, that will improve thepicture 1000 times, belive me

This is the connectors back on your Acer
1 x RGB D-Sub 15pin
1 x Composite
1 x S-Video
1 x Component

And the component connector is way the best of them, its better that all of the together..if i may say so

Good luck

SOURCE: Acer Multimedia Projector PD100 DLP overheating problem

blow the dust out of it with canned air, make sure the fans are all spinning. this should remove the causes of overheating. if it still says that it is overheating, replace the thermal sensor (usually near the lamp or the lamp fan).

VGA-HDMI connection fail on Acer projector using adapter

You don't say whether or not the "adapter" is simply a gender-changer, or if it actually converts the digital signal from the HDMI port to an analog one for the VGA port. Some monitors have both analog and digital input capability and can automatically adapt to the the digital signal, even if applied to the VGA (analog) port. Other devices are not so smart and need an actual digital-to-analog converter style adapter.

My mac book and epson projector doesn't show the signal

To my knowledge there are no video drivers to output video on a Mac USB port in the Mac OS system. There are however, devices that connect to the USB port that will give video out on Conventional (VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc) connectors.e.g. http://www.newertech.com/products/viddu2dvia.phpMost projectors connect via VGA - what Projector are you using?

I can't get a picture when I hook my projector up to my laptop.

HELLO,

If your LCD or DLP projector displays no image, this could be a variety of problems. First, check that the projector has power. On the top of the LCD or DLP projector should be some lights. With power, those lights will be on. If it has power, check to make sure that the projector lamp is firing. If so, go to the source. Make sure that it is connected with a VGA cable or USB cable to your computer, or with an RGB cable, S-Video cable or DVI connection to your VCR/DVD Player. From a laptop computer, the VGA cable should be connected to the VGA out connection, and into the VGA in connection on the projector. Are both ends tight?

If everything has checked out so far, the solution probably lies with the external monitor port. Check this by holding the Fn key on the keyboard, then press the F7 key. (On some computers, the key might be F5 or F3. Try these if F7 doesn't work) Each time you press the Fn / F7 combination, you will cycle your display through the following settings:

* Press Fn / F7 once: The laptop screen only
* Press Fn / F7 twice: The projector port only
* Press Fn / F7 three times: Both the laptop and projector port
* Wait a few seconds after each time you press the key combination to let the LCD or DLP projector refresh. Nine times out of ten this will result in seeing your projected image.

Hope this helpout....

ACER Aspire One AOA150-1635 and Sharp XR32-X projector

you need to connect it with VGA. then enable the 2nd monitor

4972c40.jpg
now you should have a wallpaper on the projector, you can drag objects to it by draging them out from the screen.

if you don't have the 2nd screen option. Then hold down the blue FN button and then tap F5 see if the picture comes, the FN + F5 will swap around with the outputs.

Multi-media projection without image

A great deal of the time DVD players are very restrictive on outputting to multiple sources due to copyright protection. In my experience, if you use your laptops function keys to toggle output (For example, on my laptop, I hit FUNCTION + F4 to cycle between LCD,LCD+VGA,VGA), you should be able to disable the laptop's LCD display, only outputting via the VGA cable. It's worked for me with my HP VP6111 and Windows XP in the past. Hope this helps!
