Question about HP Color LaserJet 4650DTN Printer

Open Question

HP Colour Laserjet 4650DTN occasional magenta leaks. Every so often we get smears of magenta ink on our printouts, this has happened with a number of cartridges (all official HP) no problems with the other colours. On opening the printer the transfer kit is usually covered and requires cleaning which solves the problem short termdominic. but this appears to be happening more frequently, can anyone offer any advice?

Obviously people arent as ambitious as me. Door switch is at the top left front and is a sliding plastic section that is pushed into the interior of the LHS circuit board that I did not replace fully - the micro switch was not in the fully inward position so the slider did not engage the switch. Very simple really!

Sounds as though one of the drum cleaning blades is failing.

When you see the double image shadow, is it any particular color? If so, that's the drum unit that is failing.

There may be a release lever for the print head assembly which would allow you to remove the print head and clean the excess ink from it. If it appears to get better the more pages you print it may be just a matter of time and lots of pages before it cleans itself.
Try running the print head cleaning utility multiple times to help reduce the amount of ink on the print head. This could take quite a few times before it gets better.

SOURCE: Colour Laserjet 2600n has problem

Hi,

Try removing each of the cartridges and vigorously shake. It is possible that the powder inside has formed into blocks, partially solidified, gummed together. This is specially true if the ambient temperature is usually cold and the printer is seldom used.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

The printouts produced a column of smear ink, some time with scratch at the top & bottom of the smeared column. the last part of the paper of the column leaving some hot ink dust

That sounds like the fixing film in the fuser has begun so shred itself. the film usually runs off centre and get crunched up at the end. A new film and possibly pressure roller will sort it out. Its fun to fit though!!

MFC240C - all printouts in green colour

green is a combination of Yellow and Cyan, it is possible that you are missing magenta, depends on the file you are trying to print, if you can print one of each color this time print only magenta it would be helpful to isolate w/c is w/c from there you can find out what is the problem

hope this helps

Ink blobs on edges of printouts

Dear sir,

I figured out this problem it may cause; The problem behaves strangely why only on the right section the printout is not fused. The common section I first check is the high voltage circuit causing no static properties the powder shall be fused with the drum's developer. Now, it is clear also that the cause is within the drum. Pls check drum's life by printing the machine diagnostic details to check all moving and consumables counters. Clean the drum by rotating the developer roller. Well see if there's a irregularity of powder distribution. Have a nice day.
