Question about Canon T90 35mm SLR Camera

1 Answer

Hello. I wonder if you can help me I have a Canon T 90 which I love very much, but have not used it for some time, I had taken the batteries out to safeguard a discharge. I went to use it to go to a function, I put neu batteries in the camera and loaded the film, which wound on as normal and showed me in the window that number one exposure was ready, I pressed the exposure button and nothing happened I tried everything as from the book but still no no result, please have you any suggestion that I can make it to work... Unfortunately it's gummed up through lack of use. Cameras need to be operated at least once a month to keep the internal lubricant films from drying out.

Your camera needs a professional CLA service if it's to work again (Clean Lubricate Adjust) but the T-series models are very difficult to dismantle and repair compared to the earlier FD mount models like the AE-1 and AT-1 due to the more complex electronics and huge numbers of soldered joints.

You fix is to either retire your old friend and source a replacement (anything of a similar age is likely to need a CLA regardless) or to send the camera to a Canon specialist for a repair estimate which will clearly be far more than the financial value of the camera, but as you love it the cost may be justifiable. If you choose the repair route, then it's important to be aware that you may be told that an unrepairable fault has been found but you'll still need to pay for the work up to that point.

One other possibility exists: leave the camera body somewhere very warm for a few hours and then replace the batteries and switch it on as you give a very firm thump to the baseplate with the ball of your hand. The heat-softened dry lube may then be sufficiently softened to break its adhesion under the impact. If it works then operate absolutely every mechanical part you can think of a few times to try and redistribute any remaining good lubricant inside the camera. This trick may buy you a little time, but more importantly it's far easier to CLA a working camera successfully than to attempt it on a non-functional model where the real fault is unknown.

Most likely this is a shutter problem. If you are using flash and getting the half pictures, then make sure the flash is a canon compatible flash and the synch is set to 60th. If the problem is all the time including non-flash pictures, then the shutter will have to be repaired.

I have had my Canon PowerShot A630 for several years and love it. However, lately the battery life has been very short (I use regular Akaline batteries.) Any advice about why this is happening would be...

These cameras eat batteries, I am sure they are all in collusion.. lol... seriously though, they are real hard on batteries, Alkaline batt's are OK, but usually only for high current drawing things, I wonder if the regular less expensive ones aren't just as good, they all seem to last about the same so I recommend using the cheapest ones available. There are some new batteries out new called Eneloop now these are real good batteries also you can recharge them. They are expensive but are worth it I feel.
have a look at them. http://www.sanyo.co.nz/gaia/eneloop

The battery in my canon elph sd780 doesn't last long

Hello

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty.
It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Canon Powershot SX110is: problem with the batteries

Make sure you are using Lithium batteries. Alkaline batteries will go dead immediately in this camera. I've tried it.

Canon EOS 30D shuts down when I try to take a photo

The problem that you describe is frequently due to a corrosion buildup that prevents the full power of the batteries from flowing to the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during the cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and reinsert them into the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.
