Canon MP610 Multifunction Printer - Whenever I try to print I get the message Printer not responding - driver and software installation seamed to go OK and comuter recognises that printer is there - it just will not print. help please!
Slight variation on Barrbaric's problem. I can print a test page ok from Control Panel. When I tried to print, say, a .jpg or .doc I got a 'printer not responding' message. I tried switching off/on, etc. I also connected the printer direct to the PC (previously it had been happily working through an unpowered hub). Same result, except now the error message is 'printer is offline'.

Hi, The MP610 is a GDI printer (which lacks intelligence to convert the
page into dots on the page, and uses the Windows graphics engine
instead). These printers are inherently hard to network. Often the only
way is to share them via a PC. Below link has a driver that's claimed to work with Win 8. Alternatively, you could try the Win 7 driver on the Win 8 machine.

If you want to use a printserver, you need to make sure it supports
your printer. For each printserver, go to the manufacturer's website.
There should be a list of supported printers for each printserver. If
the list is not there, or if your printer is not in the list, you must
assume that it will not work.
Scanning will almost never work with any printserver
What type of document are you trying to print(PDF, MS Word doc, etc)? Is the printer connected via USB cable, Bluetooth?
First thing I would do is try printing a different document or even a different type of document. If printing different documents results in the same problem then I would uninstall the current drivers, download the latest drivers from Canon, then install those drivers and try printing again. Also, if the printer is connected to your computer via USB cable verify the cable has no exposed wiring or try a different USB cable.
Click on the Start Menu, then Control Panel. Open the Printers, or Devices and Printers control panel. Find your Canon MP610 printer and Delete or Remove the device by Right Clicking on the device and selecting Delete or Remove.
Restart the PC.
When in Windows, plug your Canon MP610 in and wait for device installation to complete, or reinstall the CD drivers.
Yes. PIXMA MP610 is a multifunction printer that has printer/copier/scanner capabilities.
Just install the software and drivers supplied with your printer (or download them from CANON ) and connect the printer do the computer.
The printer sofware will guide you through the operation of scanning an image and saving it to a a file in the computer.
Below is a link to CANON product support pages, from where you can dowload the software and drivers for the printer and also guides and manuals. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=ModelTechSpecsTabAct&fcategoryid=2610&modelid=15604

The key reason behind Canon Printer Not Answering Error is a lack of information between your PC and your printer. If this is the Canon Printer Not Responding Mac, there are a few steps below that could help you solve the problem.
Reasons that Makes [Canon Printer Not Responding]:-
>>The printer driver is configured with an improper port.
>>An incorrect access point was selected during the initial setup.
>>3rd party firewall or antivirus software is interfering with the printer software.
>>USB problem that refuses to establish contact under Windows (if a wired connection is used)
I was having problems and was connected via a hub. I removed the hub and connected the printer directly to the back of the PC and voila scanning is all good.
The drivers for the printers you deleted may not have been deleted from the system print server.
Play it safe and make sure you have source files for re-installing any print drivers you delete. From the "Printers and Faxes" window, select File/Print Server. Select the DRIVERS tab, delete any drivers referring to the Canon printer.
Reboot or alternatively, use the services.msc to stop and restart the print spooler service. Now try to install your new drivers.
