Question about Computers & Internet
Black out monitor can be cause by number of reasons and errors. If you are feeling that the laptop's fan is working, then the power supply adapter and the battery is good. You may also try to use only the adapter by removing the battery or the other way around. This will isolate problems with the source of power.
Second, at the back of your laptop, you can see a removable panel cover (using an ordinary screw driver). Inside that panel is the memory. Try to eject/remove the memory module by exerting a light force on the knob at each end of the memory socket. Remove the memory module and try to clean the contact points using a pencil eraser. Corrosion and dirt may result in a poor contact with the socket. Re-seat the memory module and power on test.
If you still have a black out screen, the sad part is, the remaining culprits are the LCD monitor, the LCD hinge/contact points, the on-board video card and the motherboard/CPU. These parts are not user-serviceable and you need the help of a service man to disassemble and check the parts.
