    Hi there

I have tried everything. The main problem is that my device manager is not showing a folder for sound & audio devices and I am therefore unable to uninstall drivers or serch for new. Having searched the net for people with similar problems they all talk about going to device manager and clicking on this folder. I have decided to give up but many thanks for all your help

Please let me know the name of the Operating System installed on your laptop. To install your sound driver, you need to install Microsoft UAA (Universal Audio Architecture) bus driver on High Definition Audio.

This is to be installed before you install the Realtek High Definition driver (Audio driver), otherwise your pc's sound will never run.

You can download the Microsoft UAA driver here (click here), open the link, click the blue button "Download Now", save it and install.. After it's installed, restart your computer and install the Audio Driver, if you have any further problem, let me know with the O.S.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Well, now let's clear everything from your system including the registry entries and the drivers. First uninstall the installed drivers like Chipset, Sound drivers, graphics drivers, etc.. and run a registry cleaner. You can use this freeware to clean the registry...(click here) [download and install it, open the program "ccleaner", click "Registry", then "Scan for issues" and then "Fix selected issues", "No" and then once again click "Fix all selected issues", close. You can use this tool to clean the system by clicking the "Run Cleaner", you'll not loose anything, but will improve the system's performance or you can also uninstall programs instead of accessing the "Add/Remove Programs" feature from the Control Panel..]. Once you are done with all the cleaning, restart your computer and first of all, install the ChipSet driver (Latest updated version), you can download the driver from here (click here) followed by the Audio Driver (click here). If you have problem downloading these drivers, you can refer this hint.. once you click the page, a new window will open up with several ads on it, look onto the middle of the page and locate the captcha box..(shown below), enter the captcha texts in the box and click "Proceed To Driver Download Link" button, and again on the next page, click the blue link "Click to download your driver file".. save the file and then extract, then install it...

Download and install them one by one.. Restart your computer and let me know the outcome...

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

You will need to reinstall your Realtek audio drivers. Click on the link below and then select "notebook" and then "Aspire" and then "7520" to download the sound driver for your Acer Aspire 7520

    1) Go to device manager

    2) Select sound, video, and game controllers from the list, and select high definition audio device when it drops down

    3) New window opens. Select the driver tab. Click uninstall.

    4) Then after it is uninstalled, go back to device manager window.

Select action, and THEN you will have the option of scanning for hardware changes.

Select this option and it will reinstall and the problem should be fixed.
