Mine did this too, check for a hidden Zehner Diode. Mine came inline before the heating element. I thought it was the thermostat or the element but turned out that the diode failed and i was able to bypass it for a sec, and i mean literally a sec, and turn on the mach. Heating element heated right up, which is all i wanted to see. Looks like once i determine the value of the diode, i should be able to replace it and coffee maker will most likely be fine again. :) I think i can read the numbers, and it looks like 1250v 10A for mine, you should examine the casing of diode closely and you may find numbers on it.

- Wrong value on Zener Diode. looks more like 10a 250V....hard to read LOL
